Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) encompasses a range of conditions, from fatty liver to cirrhosis. In response to evolving research and to better reflect the complex metabolic underpinnings, the term metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) has been proposed.
