This work presents an experimental dosimetric evaluation of raster-scanning particle beam delivery during simultaneous in-beam magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. Using an open MR scanner at an experimental treatment room, radiochromic film comparisons for protons, helium and carbon ions, each with and without simultaneous in-beam cine MR imaging, yielded 2D gamma pass rates ≥ 98.8 % for a 3 % / 1.

Methods: We report the case of a patient undergoing ocrelizumab therapy for relapsing multiple sclerosis who developed a severe limbic syndrome.
Carbon fibers, driven by ever-increasing demand, are contributing to a continuous rise in the generation of waste and byproducts destined for landfills or incineration. Recycling carbon fibers presents a promising strategy for reducing carbon emissions and conserving resources, thus contributing to more sustainable waste management practices. Discovering applications of recycled carbon fibers (rCFs) would inevitably accelerate the targeted integration of sustainable materials, fostering a circular economy.

Integrating patient-centered measurements is essential for earlier and safer detection of disease progression. Home monitoring through e-health technologies, such as spirometry and oximetry connected to smartphone applications, holds promise for early detection of ILD progression or acute exacerbations, enabling timely therapeutic interventions.

In normal neuronal progenitors, N-Myc undergoes rapid degradation, while, in MYCN-amplified NB cells, Aurora kinase A (Aurora-A) binds to and stabilizes N-Myc, resulting in elevated protein levels. Here, we demonstrate that targeted protein degradation of Aurora-A decreases N-Myc levels.

Distal aortic perfusion (DaP) is meant to increase blood flow to the abdominal organs and the spinal cord. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) drainage is part of peri- and postoperative clinical routine.

Case Presentation: An 8-month-old infant presented to a general emergency department with chief complaints of rhinorrhea, decreased activity, and fever. A point-of-care lung ultrasound (LUS) was performed at bedside with potential early findings of pneumonia. Based on these findings on LUS, a chest radiograph (CXR) was ordered and performed with no acute findings.

Objectives: For successful Naloxone Leave Behind (NLB) programs, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) must identify patients at-risk for opioid overdose. We describe the first year of Vermont's NLB program and report rates of EMS documentation of at-risk patients with subsequent distribution of NLB kits in the subgroup of those refusing transport to an emergency department (ED).
Methods: This retrospective cohort review of all EMS encounters over 1 year compared on-scene EMS documented to retrospective chart reviewidentified at-risk patients eligible for NLB kit dispersal.
Veraison marks the transition from berry growth to berry ripening and is a crucial phenological stage in grapevine (Vitis vinifera): the berries become soft and begin to accumulate sugars, aromatic substances, and, in red cultivars, anthocyanins for pigmentation, while the organic acid levels begin to decrease. These changes determine the potential quality of wine. However, rising global temperatures lead to earlier flowering and ripening, which strongly influence wine quality.

In this work, we present a comprehensive phantom-based end-to-end test of breathing-adapted gating utilizing surface guidance for use in particle therapy. A commercial dynamic thorax phantom was used to reproduce regular and irregular breathing patterns recorded by the GateRT respiratory monitoring system.

Yet, some patients are subjected to partial or total thyroidectomy and radioiodine therapy to prevent local disease recurrence and metastasis.

APOBEC3's signature single-base substitutions, C-to-T and C-to-G in TCA and TCT motifs, are evident in over 70% of human malignancies and dominate the mutational landscape of numerous individual tumors. Recent murine studies have established cause-and-effect relationships, with both human APOBEC3A and APOBEC3B proving capable of promoting tumor formation in vivo.

However, chronic aortic neck dilatation (AND) following EVAR progressively weakens the structural seal between vessel and endograft and compromises long-term results of the therapy. This experimental study seeks to investigate mechanisms of AND.

Purpose: Helium ions offer intermediate physical and biological properties to the clinically used protons and carbon ions. This work presents the commissioning of the first clinical treatment planning system (TPS) for helium ion therapy with active beam delivery to prepare the first patients' treatment at the Heidelberg Ion-Beam Therapy Center (HIT).
Methods And Materials: Through collaboration between RaySearch Laboratories and HIT, absorbed and relative biological effectiveness (RBE)-weighted calculation methods were integrated for helium ion beam therapy with raster-scanned delivery in the TPS RayStation.
Research suggests that stays in a forest promote relaxation and reduce stress compared to spending time in a city. The aim of this study was to compare stays in a forest with another natural environment, a cultivated field. Healthy, highly sensitive persons (HSP, SV12 score > 18) aged between 18 and 70 years spent one hour in the forest and in the field at intervals of one week.

The molecular mechanisms responsible for high genomic instability observed in head/neck MMs remain elusive. The DNA cytosine deaminase APOBEC3B (A3B) constitutes a major endogenous source of mutation in human cancer.

Considering the lung as a viscoelastic material, positive pressure inside the lung results in increased hydrostatic pressure and tissue compression.

However, understanding the evolutionary trajectories of comparatively old heterotrophic lineages that are on the cusp of a minimal plastome, is essential to complement and expand current knowledge. We study Hydnoraceae, one of the oldest and least investigated parasitic angiosperm lineages.

A negative effect on spinal cord perfusion in thoraco-abdominal aneurysm repair has been suspected if blood drains away from the cord initiated by a reversal of the arterial pressure gradient. The amount of blood and pressure loss via back-bleeding of segmental arteries and the impact of distal aortic perfusion (DaP) have not been analysed yet.

Heart valve disease has been described as 'the next cardiac epidemic', with prevalence expected to double by 2040 and triple by 2060 due to the ageing of the population. Yet until now, it has been characterized by scarce data, limited research, and low general awareness compared with other cardiovascular diseases. Effective treatment options exist for heart valve disease, and early detection and treatment can dramatically change disease progression, improve quality of life, and reduce mortality.
