Endocervical Brush Cytology After Cervical Conization as a Predictor of Treatment Failure: A Prospective Cohort Study.

Objective: Endocervical curettage (ECC) is the gold standard for predicting the persistence of high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL) after cervical conization. However, ECC has a high rate of unsatisfactory samples and may be uncomfortable for women. Endocervical sampling with brush (ECB) has been proposed as an alternative to ECC, which, in addition to the cytological evaluation, allows performing HPV testing using the same sample.

Laparoscopic Fertility-Sparing Management of Borderline Ovarian Tumors: Surgical and Long-Term Oncological Outcomes.

To assess the long-term oncological safety of laparoscopic fertility-sparing surgery (FSS) in borderline ovarian tumors and the impact of laparoscopic surgical factors on recurrences. Primary outcomes were the recurrence rate and time to recurrence after laparoscopic FSS. Secondary outcomes were to evaluate the recurrence rate after a second laparoscopic surgery and to assess factors associated with the risk of relapse.

Predictors of mother-infant interaction quality in women at risk of postpartum psychosis: The role of emotion recognition.

Background: Limited research exists on mother-infant interaction in women at-risk-of postpartum psychosis (PP). This study aimed to investigate potential predictors of mother-infant interaction quality in women at-risk-of-PP during the first postnatal year. Potential predictors investigated were: maternal ability to recognize emotions, childhood maltreatment, parenting stress, and infant social-interactive behaviour at birth.

Neuropsychological performance in women at risk of postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis.

Purpose: While neuropsychological deficits are commonly observed in affective and psychotic disorders, this remains unexplored in these disorders when they occur during pregnancy and the postpartum period.

Methods: A neuropsychological test battery was administered to women defined at risk of postpartum depression (PD, N = 53) because having either a current or past diagnosis of major depressive disorder, women at risk of postpartum psychosis (PP, N = 43) because of a diagnosis of bipolar disorder or schizoaffective disorder and/or a previous episode of PP and women not at risk (NR, N = 48) in the third trimester of pregnancy. Generalized and specific cognitive abilities were compared between groups.

Background: Antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) programs have been differently implemented across Europe. This study primarily aimed to compare AMS in two European regions. Secondarily, the study explored the COVID-19 pandemic impact on surrogate outcome indicators of AMS.

O-RADS MRI scoring system: key points for correct application in inexperienced hands.

Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of the O-RADS MRI criteria in the stratification of risk of malignancy of solid or sonographically indeterminate ovarian masses and assess the interobserver agreement of this classification between experienced and inexperienced radiologists.

Methods: This single-centre retrospective study included patients from 2019 to 2022 with sonographically indeterminate or solid ovarian masses who underwent MRI with a specific protocol for characterisation according to O-RADS MRI specifications. Each study was evaluated using O-RADS lexicon by two radiologists, one with 17 years of experience in gynaecological radiology and another with 4 years of experience in general radiology.

The NADPH oxidase NOX4 has been proposed as necessary for the apoptosis induced by the Transforming Growth Factor-beta (TGF-β) in hepatocytes and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. However, whether NOX4 is required for TGF-β-induced canonical (SMADs) or non-canonical signals is not fully understood yet, neither its potential involvement in other parallel actions induced by TGF-β. Low-Density Lipoprotein Receptor Is a Key Driver of Aggressiveness in Thyroid Tumor Cells.

We previously described the role of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) in aggressiveness in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). Moreover, the MAPK signaling pathway in the presence of BRAF V600E mutation is associated with more aggressive PTC. Introduction: Based on their etiological relationship with human papillomavirus (HPV), the 2020 WHO classification has divided vulvar squamous cell carcinomas (VSCC) into two distinct types, HPV-associated and HPV-independent, and HPV-independent tumours have recently been divided according to p53 status. Nevertheless, the clinical and prognostic significance of this classification has not been clearly established. We analysed the differential clinical, pathological, and behavioural characteristics of these three types of VSCC in a large series of patients.

The appropriate regulation of telomere length homeostasis is crucial for the maintenance of genome integrity. The telomere-binding protein TZAP has been suggested to regulate telomere length by promoting t-circle and c-circle excisions through telomere trimming, yet the molecular mechanisms by which TZAP functions at telomeres are not understood. Using a system based on TZAP overexpression, we show that efficient TZAP recruitment to telomeres occurs in the context of open telomeric chromatin caused by loss of ATRX/DAXX independently of H3.
