Evaluating the safety of dienogest in women with adenomyosis: A retrospective analysis.

Aim: Dienogest (DNG) is highly effective for relieving pain caused by endometriosis and adenomyosis. However, women with severe uterine swelling due to adenomyosis who take DNG usually experience metrorrhagia. This study aimed to examine the safety of DNG usage in women with adenomyosis.

Taxonomic revision of Microcotyle caudata Goto, 1894 parasitic on gills of sebastids (Scorpaeniformes: Sebastidae), with a description of Microcotyle kasago n. sp. (Monogenea: Microcotylidae) from off Japan.

Two species of microcotylid monogeneans, Microcotyle caudata Goto, 1894 and Microcotyle sebastisci Yamaguti, 1958, have been reported from fishes of the Sebastes inermis species complex and Sebastiscus marmoratus (Cuvier) (Scorpaeniformes: Sebastidae). So far, these parasite species have been distinguished by the size of the eggs and the number of testes, but based on morphological evidence including re-examination of the type-specimens and topotypes and molecular analysis, we consider M. sebastisci to be a junior synonym of M.

Social tolerance in Octopus laqueus-A maximum entropy model.

Octopus laqueus is a small tropical octopus found in Okinawa, Japan and the greater Indo-Pacific. Octopus are often viewed as solitary animals but O. laqueus live in close proximity in the wild, and will potentially encounter one another on a regular basis, raising the possibility of social tolerance.

[A Case of Long-Term Survival in a Patient with Small Intestinal Adenocarcinoma with Peritoneal Dissemination].

Primary small intestinal adenocarcinoma is rare and its outcome is poor. A 46-year-old man admitted for vomiting was found in enhanced abdominal CT to have local jejunum stenosis and dilation at its oral site. A partial jejunectomy was performed and a jejunal tumor with multiple disseminated nodules in the peritoneum was revealed.

Possible involvement of downregulation of the apelin-APJ system in doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity.

Apelin peptide is an endogenous ligand of APJ (a putative receptor protein related to the angiotensin II type 1 receptor), which is a member of a G protein-coupled receptor superfamily with seven transmembrane domains. Recent findings have suggested that the apelin-APJ system plays a potential role in cardiac contraction and cardioprotection. In the present study, we show that the apelin-APJ system is disrupted in doxorubicin (Dox)-induced cardiotoxicity.
