Article Synopsis
  • Ptychography is a computational imaging technique that provides detailed microscopic images, relying on phase-retrieval algorithms for quality results.
  • Recent advancements have integrated deep neural networks (DNN) into phase retrieval processes to enhance imaging quality, although challenges arise from these methods being sensitive to experimental changes and the need for extensive image datasets for training.
  • A novel approach combines DNN and model-based algorithms, using a DNN denoiser with synthetic training data, which allows for improved image reconstruction with fewer iterations and greater adaptability to varying conditions, as validated by experimental results.

X-ray ptychography is a lensless imaging technique that visualizes the nano-structure of a thick specimen which cannot be observed with an electron microscope. It reconstructs a complex-valued refractive index of the specimen from observed diffraction patterns. This reconstruction problem is called phase retrieval (PR).
