Empyema of the lung is an infection-induced collection of fluid in the chest cavity. is a bacterium that inhabits the intestine and is a rare cause of empyema after abdominal surgery. A slow phase of infection, associated with empyema, has previously been reported in cases of similar infections.

Introduction: The effects of socioeconomic factors on patients diagnosed with thymomas have not been previously studied. We propose these factors have an important association with survival. Thymoma is the most common tumor of the anterior mediastinum.

Background: Schwannomas may remain asymptomatic, and may be discovered incidentally.

Case Presentation: Here we describe a case of a young female complaining of upper respiratory tract symptoms who was incidentally found to have an intrathoracic neurogenic tumor consistent with schwannoma associated with Horner's syndrome. Biopsy of the tumor revealed S100, BCL-2 and CD 99+ compatible with schwannoma.
