Study Objective: Emergency practitioners use ultrasound-guided nerve blocks to alleviate pain. This study represents the largest registry of single-injection ultrasound-guided nerve blocks performed in an emergency department (ED) to date. Background: Acute glenohumeral dislocation is a common emergency department (ED) presentation, however, pain control to facilitate reduction in these patients can be challenging. Although both procedural sedation and peripheral nerve blocks can provide effective analgesia, both also carry risks. Specifically, the interscalene brachial plexus block carries risk of ipsilateral hemidiaphragmatic paralysis due to inadvertent phrenic nerve involvement.

Cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome is a syndrome of cyclic vomiting related to chronic cannabis use. The difficulty of diagnosis and treatment of this syndrome has led to a disproportionately high use of health care resources.
