  • Coccidioidomycosis is a fungal infection predominantly found in the southwestern U.S., and this study analyzed its occurrence among patients receiving TNF inhibitors (TNFIs) for inflammatory conditions over a seven-year period.
  • Out of 1770 patients treated with TNFIs, 49 (2.8%) developed coccidioidomycosis, with most cases being pulmonary infections and primarily impacting White males.
  • The study found no significant difference in infection rates based on specific TNFI types, and notable that patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) were more likely to experience extrapulmonary infection.
