Article Synopsis
  • The study explored how different aspects of trait anger affect alcohol-related aggression in men and women, focusing on behavioral, cognitive, and affective components.
  • Participants included 300 healthy social drinkers aged 21 to 35, who consumed either an alcoholic beverage or a placebo and then engaged in a competitive task to measure aggressive responses.
  • Findings revealed that alcohol increased aggression primarily in men with higher behavioral and cognitive anger, and in women with higher behavioral anger, suggesting that behavioral anger is a key factor in intoxicated aggression.
