Background: Childhood obesity can have significant negative consequences for children's wellbeing and long-term health. Prior school-based interventions to prevent child overweight and obesity have shown limited effects, highlighting the necessity for comprehensive approaches addressing complex drivers of childhood obesity. "Generation Healthy Kids" (GHK) is a multi-setting, multi-component intervention to promote healthy weight development, health and wellbeing in Danish children aged 6-11 years.

Background: Overweight and obesity among children is a serious public health challenge worldwide which may lead to a range of negative physical, mental, and social consequences in childhood and later in life. There is a strong need for developing new innovative, integrated approaches and programs which can prevent overweight in children effectively and can be embedded into everyday practices. The Generation Healthy Kids intervention is a multi-component, multi-setting intervention aiming to promote healthy weight and well-being in children aged 6-11 years in Denmark.

Wearable physical activity sensors are widely used in research and practice as they provide objective measures of human behavior at a low cost. An important challenge for accurate assessment of physical activity behavior in free-living is the detection non-wear. Traditionally, heuristic algorithms that rely on specific interval lengths have been employed to detect non-wear time; however, machine learned models are emerging.

Background: In 2014, the Danish Government introduced a wide-ranging school reform that applied to all public schools in Denmark. A distinctive feature of the reform was that it became mandatory to implement an average of 45 min of daily physical activity within the curriculum. Using the RE-AIM framework as an evaluation tool, the objective of the current study was to evaluate the reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation, and maintenance of mandatory physical activity within the curriculum at ten Danish schools.

Combining accelerometry from multiple independent activity monitors worn by the same subject have gained widespread interest with the assessment of physical activity behavior. However, a difference in the real time clock accuracy of the activity monitor introduces a substantial temporal misalignment with long duration recordings which is commonly not considered. In this study, a novel method not requiring human interaction is described for the temporal alignment of triaxial acceleration measured with two independent activity monitors and evaluating the performance with the misalignment manually identified.

Background And Objective: Cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes pose a global health burden. Therefore, clarifying the pathology of these risk factors is essential. Previous studies have found positive and negative associations between one or more cardiovascular risk factors and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) probably due to diverse methodological approaches when analysing peripheral BDNF levels.
