Article Synopsis
  • Biphenotypic acute leukaemia features blasts that express both myeloid and either B- or T-lymphoid antigens, making it a rare and complex condition.
  • Two pediatric cases illustrate the challenges in treating this leukaemia type: one patient had Philadelphia chromosome positivity and underwent intensive therapy but ultimately died from complications, while the other did not achieve remission despite treatment.
  • The diagnosis relies heavily on immunophenotyping, and treatment must be tailored based on the individual patient's immunophenotype and genetic profile, emphasizing the need for more intensive and personalized approaches.
