Background: Optimal treatment for patients with stage IIIA NSCLC is controversial. Growing evidence indicates surgery with adjuvant or neoadjuvant chemotherapy (SC) may be superior to non-surgical treatments. Direct comparisons have not been performed between SC and chemoradiation with immunotherapy (CRI) among patients diagnosed with stage IIIA NSCLC since consolidation immunotherapy was added to treatment guidelines.

Emulation of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) with health record data and subsequent calibration of the results can help elucidate this.
Objective: To pilot an emulation of the KEYNOTE-189 RCT using a commercially available electronic health record (EHR) data source.
By evaluating published emulations of oncology RCTs studies in which both the active and comparator groups are sourced from RWD and target trial results are available for benchmarking, this systematic review aims to gain insight into factors related to emulation performance. Thirteen oncology emulation studies using various types of RWD were identified through an online database search of PubMed through 2022. Based on the ROBINS-I tool, most studies (N=8) had a serious risk of overall bias driven by risk of bias from confounding.

We synthesize bulk BiTe from molecular precursors and characterize their structure and chemistry using electron microscopy and analyze their TE transport properties in the range of 300-500 K. We find that synthesis from BiO + NaTeO precursors results in n-type BiTe containing a high number density ( ∼ 2.

Introducing concepts from TIs into TE materials to enhance their performance and achieve better understanding of electronic transport requires extensive research. Particularly, grain size, misorientation, and grain boundary (GB) character are of utmost importance to attain effective charge carrier transport in TE polycrystals; these factors, however, have not been thoroughly explored.

In this study, we synthesized Al and Ti co-doped ZnO by a solid-state reaction and air sintering at 1500 °C and analyzed the microstructure to establish its correlation with TE properties. The TE transport properties were measured between room temperature and 800 °C, and electronic properties were calculated from first principles calculations.

Patients treated with a qualifying therapy for advanced non-small cell lung cancer in the frontline setting meeting broad eligibility criteria were included to reflect the real-world population. Although a trend toward improved outcomes in patients receiving PD-(L)1 therapy over standard chemotherapy was observed in RWD analyses, the magnitude and consistency of treatment effect was more heterogeneous than previously observed in controlled clinical trials.

Here, we assessed the performance of real-world overall survival (rwOS) from data sets sourced from EHRs by evaluating the ability of the end point to reflect expected differences from a previous randomized controlled trial across five data sources, after applying inclusion/exclusion criteria. Coupling between thermal and charge transport in crystalline materials has always been one of the greatest challenges in understanding the underlying physics of thermoelectric materials. In this sense, CaO(CaMnO) Ruddlesden-Popper layered perovskites, comprising perovskite subcells separated by CaO planes, exhibit intriguing thermal and electronic transport properties that can be tuned by altering their crystal periodicities. Applying the well-established phonon glass electron crystal (PGEC) concept enables us to increase the transparency of these CaO planes to electron transport at the same time while preserving their opacity to phonon transport.

The expected immunoprofile of a suspected metastatic lower gastrointestinal tumor is CK7/CK20/CDX2/PAX8. This study assesses the addition of a novel marker SATB2, to improve the diagnostic algorithm.

It is important to reduce diagnostic delays as earlier initiation of disease modifying therapies mitigates long-term disability. Developing a metabolomic blood-based MS biomarker is attractive, but prior efforts have largely focused on specific subsets of metabolite classes or analytical platforms.

We hypothesized that, when summarized at the gene level, tumor methylation and germline genetic variation, alone or in combination, influence tumor gene expression in HGSOC. We used Elastic Net (ENET) penalized regression method to evaluate these associations and adjust for somatic copy number in 3 independent data sets comprising tumors from more than 470 patients.

However, there is a lack of understanding whether these factors interact to affect the EOC risk. In this study, we aimed to gain insight into this relationship by identifying leukocyte-derived DNA methylation markers acting as potential mediators of alcohol-associated EOC.

Objective: To define the prognostic role of CD8+ TILs in epithelial ovarian cancer.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This was a multicenter observational, prospective survival cohort study of the Ovarian Tumor Tissue Analysis Consortium.
Ovarian cancer is a disease with a poor prognosis and little progress has been made to improve treatment. It is now recognized that there are several histotypes of ovarian cancer, each with distinct epidemiologic and genomic characteristics. Cancer therapy is moving beyond classical chemotherapy to include epigenetic approaches.

In epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC), the contribution of fusions, especially by histological type, is unclear. We therefore screened for recurrent fusions in a histologically diverse panel of 220 EOCs using RNA sequencing.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFPhospholipid transfer protein (PLTP) participates in key processes in lipoprotein metabolism, including interparticle phospholipid transfer, remodeling of HDL, cholesterol and phospholipid efflux from peripheral tissues, and the production of hepatic VLDL. The impact of PLTP on reverse cholesterol transport suggests that the gene may harbor sequence anomalies that contribute to disorders of HDL metabolism. The human PLTP gene was screened for sequence anomalies by DNA melting analysis in 276 subjects with hypoalphalipoproteinemia (HA) and 364 controls.
