Objectives: Locoregional and lymphovascular involvement of invasive head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) complicates curative treatment. Matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) 9 is a negative prognostic marker in HNSCC and targets multiple extracellular matrix (ECM) substrates, where it contributes to breaching basement membrane and stromal barriers enabling invasive spread. Andecaliximab (ADX) is a second-generation MMP9 inhibitor well tolerated in clinical trials of gastric and pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
