Lyotropic liquid crystals (LLCs) have attracted considerably growing interest in drug delivery applications over the last years. The structure of LLC matrices is complementary to cell membranes and provides an efficient, controlled, and selective release of drugs. In this work, a complex of experimental methods was used to characterize binary LLCs Pluronic P123/DMSO and triple LLC systems Pluronic P123/DMSO/Ibuprofen, which are interesting as transdermal drug delivery systems.

Two novel click derived sensory systems for different derivatives connected via a triazole linkage have been developed as a component of a chemosensor with sensitive towards Fe ions. The 1-octyl-4-carboxyl-1,2,3-triazole (TR1) system demonstrated sensitivity to calcium ion. The 1,3-bis(4-hydroxycarbamoyl-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)xylylene (TR2) system was shown to possess a preferential detection capability as a colorimetric probe for Fe ions by exhibiting an obvious pH-dependent color change from colorless to pink.

Since polysaccharides are important in immune modulation, we investigated the chemical composition and immunomodulatory activity of L. and Ledeb polysaccharides.

In stress conditions, glutamate can be either metabolized to γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) by glutamate decarboxylase which initiates a GABA shunt bypassing several reactions of the tricarboxylic acid cycle or converted to 2-oxoglutarate by glutamate dehydrogenase. Both reactions direct protein carbon to respiration but also link glutamate metabolism to other cellular pathways, resulting in the regulation of redox level and pH balance.

Aqueous and aqueous alcohol microheterogeneous solutions were used as media. The effects of solubilization by various micellar solutions, pH and ligand type on luminescent properties of Tb(3+) complexes were investigated.

The systems are based on N,N-dimethyldodecylamine oxide, a zwitterionic surfactant. The study covers the complex formation of lanthanide ions with C12DMAO molecules and the influence of Ln(III) ions and medium composition on surfactant association in diluted solutions.

In this article, we have studied the liquid crystal and luminescence properties of lyotropic systems containing Eu(III) and Tb(III) ions based on nonionic surfactants. The type, the structural parameters of the mesophases, and the structure of a liquid crystal complex have been investigated using polarized optical microscopy (POM), X-ray diffraction, and Fourier transform infrared.
