Spent brewer's yeast is a significant volume organic waste that is difficult to dispose of, which makes additional options for its use very promising. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) as membrane structures of cellular origin participating in intercellular communication are involved in the molecular mechanisms of the development of various variants of polyneuropathy. Taking into account the increasing role of the protein corona of EVs and protein-protein interactions on the surface of EVs in the pathogenesis of various diseases, we focused our attention in this review on the role of intravesicular proteins and the protein corona of EVs in the development of chemotherapy-induced polyneuropathy (CIPN). It has been shown that EVs are effectively internalized by the mechanisms of endocytosis and macropinocytosis by neurocytes and glial cells, carry markers of insulin resistance, functionally active proteins (receptors, cytokines, enzymes), and may be involved in the pathogenesis of CIPN.

Mouse keratinocyte stem cells originate from the bulge of hair follicle, and, according to definition, possess a clonogenic activity in vitro. We have investigated seven inbred (C57BL/6, C3H, DBA/2, BALB/c, FVB) and outbred (SENCAR, CD-1) mouse strains and found that three genetically distinct subsets of mouse strains differ significantly in the frequency of clonogenic activity in vitro. The analysis of keratinocyte colonies in two reciprocal backcross [C57BL/6 x (BALB/c x C57BL/6); BALB/c x (BALB/c x C57BL/6)] and intercross [(BALB/c x C57BL/ 6)F2] of BALB/c and C57BL/6 mice allowed us to identify two subpopulations of clonogenic keratinocytes able to produce small (less than 2 mm2) and large (more than 2 mm2) colonies.

This study was designed to investigate the influence of neonatal selenium (an anticarcinogenic agent) exposure on spontaneous liver tumor formation in adult mice. Pregnant CBA mice were administered selenium during the last week of pregnancy and for ten days following parturition. Selenium significantly reduced the incidence of spontaneous hepatomas in adult male progeny, while having no effect on the lower hepatoma incidence in adult females.
