Study Objective: Obstetrics and gynecology (Ob/Gyn) resident experience with robotic gynecologic surgery has been evaluated at time of graduation, but no specific surgical procedures were identified to differentiate the experiences of residents at each level. This study proposes to determine which factors are correlated with more hands-on robotic surgery experience and resident satisfaction.

Design: An Investigational Review Board-approved, 15-question survey was distributed electronically.

Introduction And Objectives: Compared to premenopausal women, postmenopausal women are at greater risk of developing NAFLD and NASH, two common indications for liver transplantation (LT). We aim to determine the prevalence of NASH-related cirrhosis in postmenopausal women from a cohort of LT patients and investigate their post-LT complications.

Materials And Methods: Chart review of 1200 LT patients from 2002-2020 was performed.

This report describes the current status of the tobacco control measures contained in the Strategy and Plan of Action to Strengthen Tobacco Control in the Region of the Americas 2018-2022 (Pan American Health Organization) and the advances made in its application, identifying achievements from 2016 to 2020 and challenges that still need to be addressed in order to reach the expected goals. This analysis relied on data from the World Health Organization (WHO) Report on the Global Tobacco Epidemic from 2015, 2017, and 2019, and national regulations were analyzed to determine their consistency with WHO criteria. Significant progress has been made in implementation of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control in the Americas.

Most of the published literature on cigarette advertising and promotion at points-of-sale is on research conducted in high-income countries. We report findings from monitoring cigarette advertising and promotion at points-of-sale near schools and playgrounds in 42 countries, the majority low-income and middle-income. Four strategies were detected across most of these countries: (1) display of cigarettes near snacks, sweets and sugary drinks, (2) placement of cigarette advertisements near the eye-level of children, (3) advertisements and display of flavoured cigarettes and (4) sale of single sticks of cigarettes.

Article Synopsis
  • Calreticulin is a protein found in eukaryotic cells that helps cells deal with stress and is important for calcium regulation.
  • Research shows that when recombinant calreticulin from Trypanosoma cruzi is applied to skin wounds, it significantly improves healing speed and quality compared to standard treatments.
  • The study suggests that different parts of the parasite calreticulin may enhance the movement and growth of skin cells, indicating the potential for customizing treatments for better wound healing outcomes.

Catalytic hydrogenation is an important process used for the production of everything from foods to fuels. Current heterogeneous implementations of this process utilize metals as the active species. Until recently, catalytic heterogeneous hydrogenation over a metal-free solid was unknown; implementation of such a system would eliminate the health, environmental, and economic concerns associated with metal-based catalysts.
