Case Report: osteonecrosis of the maxilla and mandible related to trastuzumab, docetaxel and carboplatin.

We present a case of a patient with HER-2 positive breast cancer who developed extensive areas of osteonecrosis in the mandible and maxilla due to the combination of trastuzumab, carboplatin, and docetaxel. The pathogenesis is discussed based on the literature.

Aberrant Complement Activation Is Associated With Structural Brain Damage in Multiple Sclerosis.

Background And Objectives: Levels of activated complement proteins in the CSF are increased in people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and are associated with clinical disease severity. In this study, we determined whether complement activation profiles track with quantitative MRI metrics and liquid biomarkers indicative of disease activity and progression.

Methods: Complement components and activation products (Factor H and I, C1q, C3, C4, C5, Ba, Bb, C3a, C4a, C5a, and sC5b-9) and liquid biomarkers (neurofilament light chain, glial fibrillary acidic protein [GFAP], CXCL-13, CXCL-9, and IL-12b) were quantified in the CSF of 112 patients with clinically isolated syndromes and 127 patients with MS; longitudinal MRIs according to a standardized protocol of the Swiss MS cohort were assessed.

Method: We used primary hippocampal cultures, amyloid-β oligomers (AβO)-injected or transgenic animal models, and human brain tissue to determine brain proteasome function and subcellular localization.

Background: There is a lack of research on differences between decision-making capacity and awareness according to age at onset of dementia. We investigated the relationship between decision-making capacity and awareness domains in people with young- (YOAD) and late-onset Alzheimer´s Disease (LOAD).

Method: A cross-sectional study included 169 consecutively selected people with AD and their caregivers (124 people with LOAD and 45 people with YOAD).

Background: Post-Covid syndrome has been associated to enduring impairments in functionality, cognition, mood and physical capabilities among older adults.

Methods: The objective was to prospectively evaluate clinical, cognitive and functional impairments in elderly people at 3 and 12 months after the diagnosis of Covid-19. Prospective cohort study of participants aged 60 years and over after a Covid-19 diagnosis.

Long COVID is characterized by a myriad of symptoms and complications that persist long after the infection, including cognitive decline and mental health impairment.
