Matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-induced collagen degradation at the resin-dentin interface remains a significant challenge for maintaining the longevity of dental restorations. This study investigated the effects of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a potent MMP inhibitor, on dental adhesive curing efficiency when encapsulated in halloysite nanotubes (HNTs). EGCG-loaded HNTs were incorporated into a commercial dental adhesive (Adper Scotchbond Multi-Purpose) at 7.

Purpose: This study investigated the effects of bleaching and microabrasion on the color and shear bond strength (SBS) of stained-remineralized caries-like lesions (s-RCLs).

Methods: Human enamel specimens were demineralized, stained (coffee/tea), then remineralized (2% NaF and artificial saliva [AS]) to create s-RCLs. Specimens were randomly divided into five groups (n = 18): G1, demineralized/AS; G2, s-RCLs/AS; G3, s-RCLs/at-home bleaching (15% carbamide peroxide [CP)], 6 h/d×7)/AS; G4, s-RCLs/microabrasion (6.

Background: A pulp stone is a calcified mass that develops in the dental pulp of any tooth. Despite many studies examining the relationship between pulp stone formation and non-oral factors, the methods used in these studies have been unable to explain the exact role of these factors alone as distinct from probable effects within the oral cavity environment. Considering that totally unerupted (impacted or developing) teeth are unexposed to the oral cavity's environmental and functional conditions, they provide a more suitable material for studying the effects of these non-oral factors on pulp stone formation.

This research aimed to assess the stress distribution in lower premolars that were obturated with BioRoot RCS or AH Plus, with or without gutta percha (GP), and subjected to vertical and oblique forces. One 3D geometric model of a mandibular second premolar was created using SolidWorks software. Eight different scenarios representing different root canal filling techniques, single cone technique with GP and bulk technique with sealer only with occlusal load directions were simulated as follows: Model 1 (BioRoot RCS sealer and GP under vertical load [VL]), Model 2 (BioRoot RCS sealer and GP under oblique load [OL]), Model 3 (AH Plus sealer with GP under VL), Model 4 (AH Plus sealer with GP under OL), Model 5 (BioRoot RCS sealer in bulk under VL), Model 6 (BioRoot RCS in bulk under OL), Model 7 (AH Plus sealer in bulk under VL), and Model 8 (AH Plus sealer in bulk under OL).

Unlabelled: Vacuum-formed retainer (VFR) is the most used retainer due to its higher aesthetic properties and lower cost, their mechanical properties of are important in determining the stability and long-term use of appliances made out of them.

Aim: This study aimed to evaluate and compare the flexural modulus, surface hardness, and color stability of three different VFR materials.

Methods: Three different VFR materials, namely Duran, Keystone, and Zendura, of 1 mm thickness, were tested after thermoforming for flexural modulus, hardness, and color stability.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess how thermal and mechanical aging affects the bond strength of two root canal sealers, AH Plus and BioRoot RCS, used in mandibular premolars.
  • A total of 48 premolar teeth were divided into groups based on the type of sealer and subjected to different aging processes to simulate clinical function.
  • Results indicated that both sealers showed reduced bond strength after aging, but AH Plus outperformed BioRoot RCS in bond strength following the aging process.

Aim: The aim of this web-based questionnaire was to survey dental students to obtain their perception and knowledge of oral and facial piercings.

Materials And Methods: The participants comprised 240 students enrolled in the dental school who were asked to complete 20 close-ended, yes/no, yes/no/do not know, and multiple responses questions. The questionnaire covers general information concerning oral/facial piercing, triggers why youths and early adults get it, probable complications, their appreciation of the possibility of related health conditions, and their knowledge and perception.

Background: The persistent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak has placed a significant burden on the scientific and medical professions. The study examined the association between body mass index (BMI), stratified by category, and severe form of COVID-19, and to explore the influence of demographic characteristics and other known risk factors.

Methods: This was a retrospective analysis based on COVID-19 data from the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Health.

Aim: To evaluate the effects of placing short posts made of different restorative materials on the fracture resistance of root canals in primary incisors of primary teeth.

Materials And Methods: The root canals of 40 extracted primary incisors were prepared and filled with Vitapex and randomly divided into five groups of 8 each. In Groups 1-4, a post space was created and filled with different restorative materials (Tetric N-Ceram Bulk Fill, AeliteFlo, Filtek Z250 XT, and GC Fuji II LC capsule), while Group 5 was kept filled with Vitapex as a control.
