A cost-effective adsorbent was prepared by carbonization of pre-treated reed at 500 °C. was characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface analyses. XRD of the as-prepared adsorbent exhibited a partially crystalline structure with a specific surface area of 211.
