Cancer treatment using chemotherapy has many drawbacks because of its non-specificity, in which the chemotherapeutic agent attacks both normal and cancerous cells, leading to severe damage to the normal cells, especially rapidly proliferating ones. Cancer targeting enables the drug to kill only tumor cells without adversely affecting healthy tissues, which leads to the improvement of the patient's well-being. Nanoparticles offer several advantages in drug delivery such as enhancing the solubility of hydrophobic drugs, sustaining their release and prolonging their circulation time.

We have recently demonstrated that repeated administrations of c-kit cardiac progenitor cells (CPCs) have cumulative beneficial effects in rats with old myocardial infarction (MI), resulting in markedly greater improvement in left ventricular (LV) function compared with a single administration. We engineered covalently circularized nanodiscs (cNDs) which, compared with standard nanodiscs, exhibit enhanced stability, defined diameter sizes and tunable shapes. Reconstitution into cNDs enhanced the quality of nuclear magnetic resonance spectra for both VDAC-1, a β-barrel membrane protein, and the G-protein-coupled receptor NTR1, an α-helical membrane protein. In addition, we used cNDs to visualize how simple, nonenveloped viruses translocate their genomes across membranes to initiate infection.

Composite lymphomas consist of 2 or more distinct lymphomas occurring in a single anatomical site or simultaneously in different sites and can be composed of any combination of B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), T-cell NHL, or Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). Cases of composite lymphomas with more than 2 lymphomas are extremely rare, with only 4 reports in the literature. We report the case of a 49-year-old man with a triple composite lymphoma in a single lymph node, consisting of small lymphocytic lymphoma, follicular lymphoma, and mantle cell lymphoma in situ.
