Pantothenate synthetase protein plays a pivotal role in the biosynthesis of coenzyme A (CoA), which is a crucial molecule involved in a number of cellular processes including the metabolism of fatty acid, energy production, and the synthesis of various biomolecules, which is necessary for the survival of (). Therefore, inhibiting this protein could disrupt CoA synthesis, leading to the impairment of vital metabolic processes within the bacterium, ultimately inhibiting its growth and survival. This study employed molecular docking, structure-based virtual screening, and molecular dynamics (MD) simulation to identify promising phytochemical compounds targeting pantothenate synthetase for tuberculosis (TB) treatment.

The Aja and Salma mountains in the Hail region are home to a variety of indigenous wild plants, some of which are used in Bedouin folk medicine to treat various ailments. The purpose of the current study was to unveil the chemical, antioxidant and antibacterial properties of (Showeka) grown widely in these mountains, as data on the biological activities of this plant in this remote area are scarce. XRF spectrometry indicated the presence of some essential elements, which were in the order of Ca > S > K > AL > CL > Si > P > Fe > Mg > Na > Ti > Sr > Zn > Mn.

Article Synopsis
  • Plant tissue or cell culture is key for micro-propagation in the plant production industry, relying on combinations of growth regulators like BAP, NAA, and IAA for optimal results.
  • Research focused on optimizing IBA and BAP concentrations for root, callus, and leaf proliferation from leaf cuttings, revealing specific effective combinations for each type.
  • The study found that the best combo for callus proliferation was IBA 1.5 mg/l + BAP 1.0 mg/l, while the most effective for root proliferation was IBA 2.0 mg/l + BAP 0.25 mg/l, and noted differences in DPPH free radical scavenging potential between leaf and callus extracts
