Treatment with a single dose of lithium, an inhibitor of GSK3β, accelerated recovery of renal function in cisplatin and ischemic/reperfusion-induced AKI models.

Until quite recently, in almost all papers on crystal nucleation in glass-forming substances, it was assumed that nucleation proceeds in a completely relaxed supercooled liquid and, hence, at constant values of the critical parameters determining the nucleation rate for any given set of temperature, pressure, and composition. Here, we analyze the validity of this hypothesis for a model system by studying nucleation in a lithium silicate glass treated for very long times (up to 250 days) in deeply supercooled states, reaching 60 K below the laboratory glass transition temperature, T. At all temperatures in the considered range, T < T, we observed an enormous difference between the experimental number of nucleated crystals, N(t), and its theoretically expected value computed by assuming the metastable state of the relaxing glass has been reached.

Screening was performed using IS900 real-time PCR (qPCR) in milk samples from 179 properties in the semiarid of Northeast region of Brazil. Pooled milk samples from all lactating goats from processing plants were submitted to molecular diagnosis.

Aiming to contribute with more data on the presence of SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) in outdoor environments, we performed air sampling in outdoor terraces from restaurants in three major cities of Portugal in April 2021, following the third wave lockdown release in the country. Each air sample was collected using a Coriolis Compact air sampler, followed by RNA extraction and real-time quantitative PCR for the detection of viral RNA.

Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) is a rare entity characterized by fever associated with the sudden appearance of erythematous lesions, on which multiple sterile, non-follicular pustules develop. We describe a case of a 44-year-old healthy male who developed fever and multiple erythematous and edematous lesions with progressive generalization to the entire body, associated with multiple small non-follicular pustules three days after having started flucloxacillin for the treatment of a furuncle. Considering the characteristics of the exanthema, fever, and association with aminopenicillin initiation, AGEP was considered.
