This retrospective study aimed to compare the clinical outcomes of intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and proton beam therapy (PBT). A total of 606 patients diagnosed with prostate cancer between January 2008 and December 2018 were included. Of these patients, 510 received PBT up to a dose of 70-78 Gy (relative biological effectiveness) and 96 patients received IMRT up to a dose of 70-78 Gy.

Several studies have reported the efficacy of paclitaxel plus cetuximab (PC) combination therapy in this patient population.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients with platinum-refractory R/M-HNSCC treated with nivolumab or PC at our institution between January 2015 and March 2022.
Anamorelin, a highly selective ghrelin receptor agonist, enhances appetite and increases lean body mass in patients with cancer cachexia. However, the predictors of its therapeutic effectiveness are uncertain. This study aimed to investigate the association between the Glasgow prognostic score (GPS), used for classifying the severity of cancer cachexia, the therapeutic effectiveness of anamorelin, and the feasibility of early treatment based on cancer types.

However, the mechanisms remain elusive. To understand EBNALP's role in B-cell transformation, we compare NBLs infected with wild-type EBV and an EBNALP-null mutant EBV using multi-omics techniques.

Systemic profiling of the PCNSL tumor microenvironment (TME) was previously conducted through gene expression analysis. We investigated the prognostic impact of TME on survival to establish novel prognostic biomarkers in PCNSL patients.

Objectives: Mesenteric malperfusion in acute aortic dissection remains a life-threatening complication with no standardized treatment strategy. This study aimed to describe and evaluate the outcomes of our integrated approach combining exploratory laparotomy, immediate mesenteric reperfusion, and central aortic repair.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed patients with acute aortic dissection with a preoperative diagnosis of mesenteric malperfusion who were treated between August 2011 and November 2022.
Purpose: Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) status is a critical biomarker in advanced gastric cancer (AGC). While the role of HER2-positive tumors in guiding targeted therapies is well-established, the clinical implications of HER2-low expression, defined as immunohistochemistry (IHC) 1+ or IHC 2+/in situ hybridization-negative (ISH-negative), remain undetermined. The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic significance and clinicopathological features of HER2-low AGC.

Methods: PD-L1 immunohistochemistry (IHC) and next-generation sequencing assays (whole exome sequencing/RNA-sequencing) were performed on archival tumor specimens.
The concept of electromotive field appears in various applications in space and astrophysical plasmas. A review is given on the electromotive field highlighting our current understanding of the theoretical picture and the spacecraft observations in interplanetary space. The electromotive field is a key concept to successfully close the set of turbulent magnetohydrodynamic equations and also to construct a more complete picture of space plasma turbulence.

However, some cases show early progression on magnetic resonance imaging, and these characteristics remain under-reported. This study aimed to elucidate the characteristics of isocitrate dehydrogenase-mutant astrocytoma showing early progression on magnetic resonance imaging.

Although poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)-based materials have great potential as medical devices, they lack antibacterial properties on their surfaces and pose bacterial infection risks during implantation surgery. Copolymers containing antibacterial [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium chloride (METAC) units were used to modify the surfaces of chemically cross-linked water-insoluble PVA-based microfibers.

Methods: The correlation between tumor volumes and survival was evaluated, followed by progression-free survival (PFS) analysis by independent central review based on Response Assessment in Neuro-Oncology (RANO) criteria using MRI recovered from 118 nGBM patients enrolled in the JCOG0911 trial. A radiomic analysis was also performed to identify radiomic features predictive of nGBM prognosis.
Background: A previous Phase II clinical trial, conducted from 1995 to 2003, evaluated CNS germ cell tumors (GCTs) using a three-group treatment stratification based on histopathology. The primary objective of the study was to assess the long-term efficacy of standardized treatment regimens, while the secondary objective focused on identifying associated long-term complications.
Methods: Total 228 patients were classified into three groups for treatment: germinoma (n=161), intermediate prognosis (n=38), and poor prognosis (n=28), excluding one mature teratoma case.
Background: Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common and deadly malignant diseases worldwide. Despite revolutionary advances, the therapeutic efficacy of anti-PD1/PDL1 monoclonal antibodies in advanced GC is still low due to the emergence of innate and acquired resistance to treatment. Myeloid cells represent the majority of human immune cells.

The neutron beam in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) exhibits poor directionality and significantly decreasing neutron flux with increasing distance. Therefore, the treatment site must be close to the irradiation aperture. Some patients with head and neck cancer may benefit from a sitting-position setup.

The EORTC IADL-BN32 questionnaire was developed to measure IADL in this patient population.
Methods: In this international validation study, we evaluated the EORTC IADL-BN32 questionnaire on several psychometric properties in a large sample of patients with a primary or metastatic brain tumour.
Background: Accelerator-based boron neutron capture therapy (AB-BNCT) systems are becoming commercially available and are expected to be widely used in hospitals. To ensure the safety of BNCT, establishing a quality assurance (QA) program and properly managing the stability of the system are necessary. In particular, a high level of beam output stability is required to avoid accidents because beam output is a major factor in patient dose.
