Interstitial pregnancy: A retrospective case series of surgically managed patients over a ten-year period.

Aims: To describe the ultrasound diagnostic features and surgical management procedures for patients with an interstitial ectopic pregnancy in our tertiary institution and associated peripheral hospital over a ten-year period.

Methods: A retrospective audit of all surgically managed cases of interstitial pregnancies over a ten-year period at a tertiary hospital and one associated peripheral hospital in New South Wales.

Results: Sixteen cases of surgically managed interstitial pregnancy were identified.

Background: Opportunistic bilateral salpingectomy during benign gynaecologic surgery is advocated as a risk-reducing strategy due to the inverse association of epithelial ovarian cancers observed in epidemiological studies in a low-risk setting. Currently, no formal guidance exists for permanent surgical contraception at time of caesarean section in Australia.

Phenotyping interindividual variability in obstructive sleep apnoea response to temazepam using ventilatory chemoreflexes during wakefulness.

Centrally active agents have a variable impact in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) that is unexplained. How to phenotype the individual OSA response is clinically important, as it may help to identify who will be at risk of respiratory depression and who will benefit from a centrally active agent. Based on loop gain theory, we hypothesized that OSA patients with higher central chemosensitivity have higher breathing instability following the use of a hypnosedative, temazepam.
