Objective: While sperm freezing (cryopreservation) is an effective method for preserving fertility, it can potentially harm the structure and function of sperm due to an increase in the production of reactive oxygen species. This study aimed to assess the impact of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) and selenium oxide nanoparticles (SeONPs) on various sperm functional parameters, including motility, plasma membrane integrity (PMI), mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), acrosome membrane integrity (ACi), and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels.
Methods: Semen samples were collected from 20 Albino Wistar rats.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFThis study investigated the effects of using a combination of substrates (fructose, propanol, citric acid, acetic acid, propionic acid and beef extract) on the synthesis of poly (3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate), which is also known as PHBV. The results of batch PHBV optimization by RSM, indicated that PHB was synthesized only when fructose was used as the sole carbon source. Fructose in combination with propanol and beef extract, exhibited better PHBV production performance, as compared to that of propionic acid which was used in previous studies.

Several non-halogenated solvents were tested and it was found that butyl acetate and ethyl acetate are powerful solvents for the biopolymer. Testing was performed to examine the effects of temperature (25 °C until temperature below solvent boiling points) and heating incubation time (0-60 min) on the two solvents.
