These numerous aetiologies behind the occurrence of nodular lesions signify the importance of thorough work-up of the patient to diagnose the underlying reason behind the clinical condition. Erythema elevatum diutinum (EED) is a rare vasculitis with variable clinical presentation, the diagnosis of which can be challenging.

Salivary gland (SG) stem cells are the only cell population capable of extended growth in organotypic cultures, and thus they are considered a source for cell-based therapies aimed at SG regeneration. Studies in the mouse submandibular gland have identified only one population of tissue stem cells capable of salisphere formation in culture. These cells are actively dividing ductal cells that express epithelial progenitor markers keratin (K) 5/14 and normally function as lineage-restricted stem cells for differentiated ductal cells.

The epidemiology of infectious causes of meningitis in sub-Saharan Africa is not well understood, and a common cause of meningitis in this region, Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB), is notoriously hard to diagnose. Here we show that integrating cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) with a host gene expression-based machine learning classifier (MLC) enhances diagnostic accuracy for TB meningitis (TBM) and its mimics. 368 HIV-infected Ugandan adults with subacute meningitis were prospectively enrolled.

Background and purpose Marginal adaptation is critical for the long-term longevity and clinical success of dental restorations. Improper marginal adaptation may lead to oral fluids, resulting in microleakage and cement dissolution. The present in vitro study aimed to evaluate the marginal adaptation of nickel-chrome (Ni-Cr) copings, cobalt-chrome (Co-Cr) coping, and zirconium (Zr) copings, produced with different manufacturing procedures.

Conventional beading and boxing procedure is time consuming and involves application of heat that might distort green stick compound used for border molding. Earlier studies regarding beading and boxing methods have shown usage of various materials that were disposable and that cannot be recycled. One of the inherent disadvantages of this material is the liability to break during function. The strength assessment of acrylic resins have been made generally by transverse defection tests.

Postpartum amenorrhoea among Manipuri women: a survival analysis.

Among the three major components of a closed birth interval, waiting time to conception can somehow be managed with effective contraceptives while gestation is universally constant in its duration; the duration of postpartum amenorrhoea (PPA) varies in complex nature. The present study aimed to investigate the proximate factors influencing the duration of PPA. A community-based, cross-sectional study was conducted in four valley districts of Manipur, India, during 1 August-31 December 2009, to analyze the differentials and determinants of duration of PPA, applying the survival analysis technique.

Dowry death: implications of law.

The giving of dowry on marriage is a widespread custom in India, but the attitude of society towards this practice is neither uniform nor consistent. 'Dowry death' is the result of a unique form of violence suffered by Indian women. The existing legal provisions relating to dowry and dowry deaths are summarized, and the role of the Indian Penal Code is discussed.

A study of height and weight of urban school-going children of Imphal.

726 urban school-going children in the age group 5-16 years were screened during the period from February to May, 1980 at Imphal. The growth rate of girls was apparently faster than that of boys as evidenced from the increment nature of height and weight per annum. Growth spurts were observed during the age group of 6-8 years and 12-13 years for boys, and 5-8 years and 11-12 years for girls.
