In forensic neuropathology, the β-amyloid precursor protein (β-APP) immunostain is used to diagnose axonal injury (AI). The two most common aetiologies are traumatic (TAI) and ischaemic (vascular; VAI). We aimed to identify background characteristics and neuropathology findings that are suggestive of TAI, VAI, or no AI in neuropathologically examined medico-legal autopsy cases.

Human placental extract is one option that has been proposed.
Aims And Objectives: This study aimed at evaluating the therapeutic benefits of human placental extract (Placentrex) in the management of radiation-induced oral mucositis in patients on curative intent treatment for head and neck cancers with concurrent chemoradiation, and to compare the observations with other conventional approaches.
Background: Diabetic foot infections (DFIs) represent a significant complication of diabetes mellitus, contributing to increased morbidity and mortality. Understanding antibiotic prescribing patterns and microbial susceptibility is crucial for effective management.
Objective: This study aimed to assess antibiotic prescribing trends and microbial susceptibility patterns in DFIs in a tertiary care center in Puducherry.
Background: Pre-eclampsia and eclampsia are medical conditions that can cause severe complications, such as maternal and foetal morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to assess the incidence and characteristics of pre-eclampsia and eclampsia.
Methods: From July 2021 to July 2022, the authors conducted a retrospective, cross-sectional, descriptive study in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of a tertiary care hospital in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo).
Background: Long-intergenic non-protein coding gene 01140 (LINC01140) a long non-coding RNA is highly expressed in various cancers. However, its biological functions in gastric cancer progression is still unknown.
Method: To elucidate LINC01140 function, 70 GC tumor samples and 30 normal gastric tissues were collected.
Background The MTHFD1 G1958A polymorphism is a common variation in the gene encoding methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase 1 (MTHFD1), an enzyme crucial for folate metabolism. This study investigated the association between the MTHFD1 G1958A polymorphism, which is involved in folate metabolism, and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) risk. Methods A case-control study was conducted and 304 pregnant women (152 with gestational diabetes as cases and 152 healthy pregnant as controls) participated in the study.

We have studied the promoter methylation status of PEBP1 and evaluated its correlation with gallbladder carcinogenesis.
Aims: PEBP1, an endogenous inhibitor of Raf/MEK/ERK signaling pathway, is a tumor suppressor gene.
Progressive cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease could either be caused by a spreading molecular pathology or by an initially focal pathology that causes aberrant neuronal activity in a larger network. To distinguish between these possibilities, we generated a mouse model with expression of mutant human amyloid precursor protein (APP) in only hippocampal CA3 cells. We found that performance in a hippocampus-dependent memory task was impaired in young adult and aged mutant mice.

With most women resorting to platforms like "YouTube" that form a perfect source of edutainment, our aim was to analyze the quality of content available regarding the same.
Aims: The aims and objectives of this study were to assess the quality and reliability of content related to PCOS on YouTube by analyzing the DISCERN score, global quality score (GQS), and video power index (VPI).
Protein production by ribosomes is fundamental to life, and proper assembly of the ribosome is required for protein production. The RNA, which is post-transcriptionally modified, provides the platform for ribosome assembly. Thus, a complete understanding of ribosome assembly requires the determination of the RNA post-transcriptional modifications in all of the ribosome assembly intermediates and on each pathway.

Pancreatic and duodenum homeobox 1 (PDX1) is considered as a pivotal transcription factor that acts as a "master regulator" in pancreatogenesis and maintenance of β-cells. Earlier study has reported that PDX1 also functions as a tumor suppressor in human gastric cancer cells by inhibiting cell growth. Here, we report the bioactivity of the purified human PDX1 fusion protein using various assays like cell migration, proliferation, cell cycle analysis, and gene expression.

Additionally, PAX4 also functions as a tumor suppressor protein in human melanomas. The present study demonstrates the production of bioactive recombinant human PAX4 transcription factor.

Replacement of dysfunctional or lost β-cells with fully functional ones can tackle the problem of β-cell generation in diabetes mellitus. Various pancreatic-specific genes are expressed during different stages of development, which have essential roles in pancreatogenesis and β-cell formation.

Low drug concentration in cancer cells, nonspecific distribution, rapid clearance, multiple drug resistance, severe side effects, and other factors contribute to the disappointing results of traditional chemotherapy. As an innovative technique of treatments for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in recent years, nanocarrier-mediated targeted drug delivery systems can overcome the aforesaid limitations via enhanced permeability and retention effect (EPR) and active targeting.

With the subjectivity that is prevalent with conventional morphological and physical signs of death, newer-age modalities such as chemical analysis provide better precision. The easy accessibility and the resistance to putrefaction make vitreous humor the best choice for such chemical analysis.

Background: Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are some of the less common cutaneous adverse drug reactions with significant mortality.
Objectives: This study was undertaken with the objective of studying the demographics and clinical profile of SJS/TEN and identifying parameters associated with mortality.
Materials And Methods: All patients with SJS/TEN over 10 years (2010-2020) were included in the study.
Background: Biomedical research is not given adequate attention during undergraduation due to the failure of the medical curriculum to motivate the students to take up research, teach the research methodology, and emphasize the scope of research in the future. Our objective was to study the perceptions of medical undergraduate students toward biomedical research and to explore the facilitators and barriers to biomedical research.
Materials And Methods: This was an explanatory, sequential, mixed-method study.
Background: Oct4 has critical role in maintaining pluripotency, proliferative potential, and self-renewal capacity in embryonic stem and germ cells. Although Oct4 has been shown to be upregulated in many cancers, its clinical significance in gallbladder carcinoma is poorly understood.
Methods: We studied the expression profile of Oct4 in 61 GBC and 30 chronic cholecystitis (as control) using real time RT-PCR, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry.
