Lymphoedema can be classified into primary and secondary. Primary lymphoedema arise in patients where the cause is not known. Secondary lymphoedema are those in which the lymph system has been damaged by some well recognised pathological process, such as extensive malignancy, filariasis, radiation etc.

The physiological changes of the breast during pregnancy and lactation make the clinical, radiological and pathological evaluation of a breast mass challenging. Galactoceles are benign lesions containing milk, and generally occur post partum. Fine needle aspiration cytology is a simple, quick and effective technique for the diagnosis of the same during this period, and in case of galactocele the same can be both diagnostic and therapeutic.

Eccrine porocarcinoma (EPC) is a potentially lethal neoplasm of the skin that arises from the intraepidermal portion of the eccrine sweat glands. It was previously known as eccrine adenocarcinoma or malignant eccrine poroma. It commonly occurs between 60 to 80 years of age, usually arising from hands and feet.

A lactating adenoma is a benign tumour which usually occurs in younger women who are either pregnant or breast feeding. In some instances these lactating adenomas can occur simultaneously with breast carcinoma, so they have to be carefully evaluated. We report an unusual case of simultaneous occurrence of a lactating adenoma and infiltrating ductal carcinoma occurring in a 25-year-old lactating mother.

Angiokeratomas are rare benign vascular skin lesions arising in isolation or in groups of multiple lesions, as solitary cutaneous forms or generalized systemic forms. They are ectasias of dermal capillaries with an acanthotic and hyperkeratotic epidermis. They can occur in both healthy individuals and in those with underlying systemic disease due to inherited enzyme deficiency or other acquired predisposing factors.

Background: Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer occurring among women worldwide, with almost half a million new cases each year. Normal cells gradually transform to form cancer cells through several stages. So, the changes occurring during the transformational stages need to be assessed.

Chondroid syringoma is a rare benign skin adnexal tumor of eccrine/apocrine origin affecting commonly the head and neck region. It is also called as mixed tumor of skin because of the presence of both the epithelial and mesenchymal components. There are very few case reports of chondroid syringoma diagnosed on fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC).

Background: Breast carcinoma is one of the most common cancers occurring in the female population world-wide. Normal cells gradually transform to form the cancer cells through several stages. Nuclear changes occurring during these transformational steps need to be assessed objectively.

In the life cycle of malarial parasite exflagellation of microgametes occur in mosquitoes. Usually this will not occur in the peripheral blood of human beings. However, exflagellation can occur in the collected blood and may create diagnostic dilemma.

Neonates are easily prone for bacterial infection. Diagnosis of neonatal septicemia may be difficult as the early signs of sepsis may be subtle and different at different gestational ages. The present study was undertaken to assess the significance of the hematological scoring system (HSS) for early detection of neonatal sepsis.

Metastases to the skin from internal tumors are uncommon, yet they may be the first presentation of such malignancies. They usually arise from the breast, lung and large bowel. Cutaneous metastases from gastric adenocarcinoma are extremely rare.

Objectives: The present study was undertaken to analyze placental changes in the preeclampsia-eclampsia syndrome with a view to assess the significance of villous abnormalities by histopathological methods because these changes serve as a guide to the duration and severity of disease.

The occurrence of retroperitoneal schwannoma is uncommon and its presence may only be expressed by insidious onset of nonspecific symptoms such as vague abdominal pain. Imaging modalities like computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging may demonstrate the tumor, but due to heterogeneity and degeneration in some tumors, it may mimic malignancy. So, fine needle aspiration cytology followed by tissue sampling through needle biopsies may be essential to confirm the diagnosis prior to the surgery.

Microscopic evaluation of a peripheral blood smear is one of the most beneficial test. But anticoagulant induced artefacts could lead to misinterpretation of the smears. The present study was undertaken to identify the anticoagulant induced artefacts and avoid misinterpretation of peripheral blood smears.
