Background And Aim: Cell-based therapy utilizing mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is currently being investigated as a therapeutic agent for chronic wounds. There is no evidence regarding effectiveness of the spray and local transfer of this cellular product in diabetic wound healing. Accordingly, the present study, using clinical, pathological and biometric parameters, investigated the effectiveness of the spray of these cells in the healing of diabetic wounds in rats.

Background: Germline autosomal dominant and autosomal recessive mutations in PERP, encoding p53 effector related to PMP-22 (PERP), a component of epidermal desmosomes, have been associated with a spectrum of keratodermas. Monoallelic nonsense mutations cause Olmsted syndrome with severe periorificial keratoderma and palmoplantar keratoderma (PPK). Biallelic recessive frameshift and missense mutations are associated with milder forms of the disease, including generalised erythrokeratoderma and PPK.

Keratitis-ichthyosis-deafness (KID) syndrome is caused by mutations in the GJB2 gene encoding connexin 26, a component of transmembrane hemichannels which form gap junction channels, critical for cell-cell communication. Here, we report two patients from two distinct families with KID syndrome with the same GJB2 mutation (p.Asp50Asn); in both cases the mutation was de novo, as the parents depicted the wild-type allele only.

Herein we report three married women referred to Dermatology Clinic of Loghman Hakim Hospital, Tehran, Iran in 2017 for evaluation and treatment of genital warts. Two patients were complaining of flat-topped papules on their labia major and the third one was presented with asymptomatic papillary projections on her vestibule and inner aspect of both labia minora. Histological examination revealed the diagnosis of syringoma, lymphangioma circumscriptum (LC) and vestibular papillomatosis respectively.

Background: Alopecia areata is an immune-dependent disorder characterized by the interaction of T-lymphocytes with follicular antigens. Recent studies have shown the existence of a local renin-angiotensin system in the skin, where angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) plays a role in autoimmunity and inflammation.

Aim: The objective of this study was to evaluate serum and tissue ACE activity in patients with alopecia areata.

Sustained release of functional growth factors can be considered as a beneficial methodology for wound healing. In this study, recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF)-loaded chitosan nanoparticles were incorporated in Poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) nanofibers, followed by surface coating with collagen type I. Physical and mechanical properties of the PCL nanofibers containing G-CSF loaded chitosan nanoparticles PCL/NP(G-CSF) and in vivo performance for wound healing were investigated.

Background: Longitudinal melanonychia (LM) can be a challenging sign since it may be caused by a wide variety of benign and malignant conditions. Cutaneous melanoma is the most important cause of LM. Objective: We performed this study to examine different aspects of LM in Iran, where cutaneous melanoma is rare.

Background: Rosacea is a chronic, multifactorial, dermatological condition. Increased density of Demodex folliculorum mites in the skin of rosacea patients suggests a possible role for these mites in the pathophysiology of rosacea.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of permethrin 5% topical gel vs.

Background: Recent data have changed our views of prognostic factors in cutaneous melanoma, while some newer methods have yielded better prognostic information. Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes are believed to represent the immune reaction/response to melanoma cells which is often found in melanocytic cancer.

Aim And Objective: We carried out an analysis, aiming to establish pooled estimates for clinical outcomes based on the presence of CD8+ T cell in melanocytic cancer.

Background: Pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is a known cause of loss of 'normal' anagen hair; that is, shedding of intact anagen hairs covered by root sheaths. However, studies on this subject are limited.

Aim: To investigate anagen hair shedding in patients with PV, and ascertain its association with disease severity.

Background: Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common type of human cancer. Despite the high prevalence of these tumors, there is a lack of reliable epidemiological data in some regions including Iran.

Objective: To assess the relationship between BCC subtypes and anatomical distribution in the Iranian population.

Background: Drug withdrawal is the ultimate goal in the management of patients with pemphigus. Direct immunofluorescence (DIF) has long been considered the gold-standard test to predict immunological remission in pemphigus vulgaris (PV); however, there have been no comparisons between DIF and antidesmoglein (anti-Dsg) ELISA.

Aim: To compare anti-Dsg ELISA with DIF in patients with PV for evaluation of immunological remission.

We report a case of extensive tinea corporis in an 80-year-old woman on her forearms, thighs, legs, buttocks and trunk, mimicking parapsoriasis due to Trichophyton schoenleinii, without scalp involvement. Diagnosis of Trichophyton schoenleinii was confirmed by microscopy and mycological culture specimens.

Background: Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common skin cancer in humans. The histological subtype reported by punch biopsy may influence the type of treatment. Few studies have investigated the accuracy of punch biopsy in diagnosing the true BCC subtype.

Discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) is a form of local inflammatory autoimmune disease limited to the skin, involving essentially the face, scalp and ear. DLE occurs in genetically predisposed individuals, sunlight being an identified trigger. Diagnosis is made by clinical examination and histopathology; laboratory tests occasionally performed include anti-nuclear antibodies titers and presence of circulating antibodies against dsDNA.

Paraneoplastic pemphigus (PNP) is seen most frequently in the setting of Castleman's disease (CD) in childhood. We report herein a 10-year-old girl with PNP appearing a few weeks after resection of a recurrent CD. Despite improvement in skin and mucosal lesions with prednisolone and azathioprine, she had severe bronchiolitis obliterans and died from respiratory failure a few months later.

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the second most common type of skin cancer with potential risks for metastasis and recurrence if left untreated or incompletely excised. This case series study was designed to determine the frequency of incompletely excised SCCs and the related risk factors. A total of 273 SCCs (253 patients) excised in Razi dermatology hospital of Tehran from 2006-2008, were evaluated and were analyzed by Chi-square or t-test.

Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) is a rare cancer in Iran and there is no epidemiological and molecular information about HHV-8 variants circulating among the Iranian population. In this study HHV-8 sequences have been analyzed in 43 cutaneous KS biopsies from Iranian patients mainly affected by classic KS. DNA samples were subjected to PCR amplification of HHV-8 ORF26, T0.

Background: Negative direct immunofluorescence (DIF) is a predictor of immunologic remission in pemphigus vulgaris. Recently, it has been shown that plucked hair can be used as substrate for DIF in the diagnosis of pemphigus.

Objective: We sought to compare hair DIF in patients with pemphigus vulgaris in clinical remission with conventional DIF for the assessment of immunologic remission.

Actinomycosis is a chronic, suppurative granulomatous disease caused by the genus Actinomyces. This report is an interesting case of primary cutaneous actinomycosis (PCA) in a patient with common variable immunodeficiency (CVI) affecting the fingernails. The patient was successfully treated with penicillin G, cefazolin and metronidazole as well as surgical debridement of the infected tissues.
