An investigation of using log-file analysis for automated patient-specific quality assurance in MRgRT.

Ocular adverse events in patients with atopic dermatitis undergoing treatment with dupilumab: An Italian single-center experience.

Ocular comorbidities are more frequent in patients with severe atopic dermatitis (AD) compared to general population. Dupilumab, a fully human monoclonal antibody that prevents the signaling of interleukin (IL)-4 and IL-13, is reported to be efficacious and safe for the treatment of moderate-to-severe AD, asthma, and chronic sinusitis. However, conjunctivitis was the most common side effect observed both in clinical trials and real-life studies in atopic patients.

Acoustic and thermoacoustic properties of an additive manufactured lattice structure.

With the advent of additive manufacturing, lattice structures can be printed with precisely controlled geometries. In this way, it is possible to realize porous samples with specific acoustic and thermoacoustic characteristics. However, to this aim and prior to the manufacturing process, it is fundamental to have a design tool that can predict the behaviour of the lattices.

Synthetic auxotrophy remains stable after continuous evolution and in coculture with mammalian cells.

Understanding the evolutionary stability and possible context dependence of biological containment techniques is critical as engineered microbes are increasingly under consideration for applications beyond biomanufacturing. While synthetic auxotrophy previously prevented from exhibiting detectable escape from batch cultures, its long-term effectiveness is unknown. Here, we report automated continuous evolution of a synthetic auxotroph while supplying a decreasing concentration of essential biphenylalanine (BipA).

Intraoperative transit-time flow measurement and high-frequency ultrasound in coronary artery bypass grafting: impact in off versus on-pump, arterial versus venous grafting and cardiac territory grafted.

Objectives: Despite society guideline recommendations, intraoperative high-frequency ultrasound (HFUS) and transit-time flow measurement (TTFM) use in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) has not been widely adopted worldwide. This retrospective review of the REQUEST (REgistry for QUality assESsmenT with Ultrasound Imaging and TTFM in Cardiac Bypass Surgery) study assesses the impact of protocolled high-frequency ultrasound/TTFM use in specific technical circumstances of CABG.

Methods: Three REQUEST study sub-analyses were examined: (i) For off-pump (OPCAB) versus on-pump (ONCAB) procedures: strategy changes from preoperative plans for the aorta, conduits, coronary targets and graft revisions; and for all REQUEST patients, revision rates in: (ii) arterial versus venous grafts; and (iii) grafts to different cardiac territories.

Atopic dermatitis in adolescents: Effectiveness and safety of dupilumab in a 16-week real-life experience during the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy.

Dupilumab showed significant improvement of adolescent atopic dermatitis (AD) signs and symptoms in clinical trials, with a good safety profile. Herein we report the real-word effectiveness and safety of dupilumab in adolescents with moderate to severe AD from January to October 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy. All patients had a diagnosis of AD for a mean [SD] 12.

Clinical Outcomes and Technical Approach of Thymectomy in the Veterans Health Administration.

Background: Thymectomy is traditionally performed through a transsternal incision, but less invasive modalities have emerged, including transcervical, thoracoscopic, and robotic approaches. Despite the advantages of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) over thoracotomy, most thymectomies are performed through sternotomy. This study compared the use and 30-day postoperative outcomes of transsternal, transcervical, and VATS thymectomy in the Veterans Health Administration.

Physical Activity, Stress, and Physically Active Stress Management Behaviors Among University Students With Overweight/Obesity.

Student physical activity is associated with lower stress. Research gaps remain regarding the types of stress management behaviors students use and how these behaviors are associated with students' activity levels. This study examined associations between physical activity and stress management behaviors among students (18-35 years).

Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery Lung Resection in United States Veterans: Trends and Outcomes versus Thoracotomy.

Background: Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) offers reduced morbidity compared with open thoracotomy (OT) for pulmonary surgery. The use of VATS over time has increased, but at a modest rate in civilian populations. This study examines temporal trends in VATS use and compares outcomes between VATS and OT in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).

GAD65 autoimmunity after treatment with nivolumab: a multifocal presentation.

Introduction: Neurological disorders are considered rare complications of immune-checkpoint inhibitor.

Case Description: We report a 63-year-old man with recurrence of melanoma who presented epilepsy, limbic encephalitis, cerebellar ataxia, and stiff person syndrome soon after treatment with nivolumab, an immune-checkpoint inhibitor. On autoimmune screening, serum and CSF GAD65 were detected.

We aim to present a practical approach to imaging in suspected biliary atresia, an inflammatory cholangiopathy of infancy resulting in progressive fibrosis and obliteration of extrahepatic and intrahepatic bile ducts. Left untreated or with failure of the Kasai procedure, biliary atresia progresses to biliary cirrhosis, end-stage liver failure and death within the first years of life. Differentiating biliary atresia from other nonsurgical causes of neonatal cholestasis is difficult as there is no single method for diagnosing biliary atresia and clinical, laboratory and imaging features of this disease overlap with those of other causes of neonatal cholestasis.

Glycated ACE2 receptor in diabetes: open door for SARS-COV-2 entry in cardiomyocyte.

Rationale: About 50% of hospitalized coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) developed myocardial damage. The mechanisms of direct SARS-CoV-2 cardiomyocyte infection include viral invasion via ACE2-Spike glycoprotein-binding. In DM patients, the impact of glycation of ACE2 on cardiomyocyte invasion by SARS-CoV-2 can be of high importance.

Cancer screenings among sexual and gender minorities by midwives' point of view.

Introduction: Although women belonging to sexual and gender minorities are more at risk of gynecological and breast cancer, pieces of evidence have been provided that this population finds hardships getting involved in cancer screening programs. This happens because they tend to avoid clinical settings because of fear of discrimination, heteronormative assumptions, heterosexism, classism, and homophobic slurs by healthcare professionals. On the other hand, medical programs that allow healthcare providers to have experience with LGBTQ people are scarce and there are no specific tools to assess sexual cancer risks in this population.

Patch testing of budesonide in Italy: The SIDAPA baseline series experience, 2018-2019.

Background: Budesonide was included in the European Baseline Series in 2000 as the most suitable marker forcorticosteroid hypersensitivity. In the last two decades, a decreasing trend of budesonide allergy has been observed.

Objectives: To estimate the prevalence of positive patch test reactions to budesonide in a large, Italian patch test population, characterizing patients according to MOAHLFA index and evaluating the benefit with extended readings of budesonide patch test.
