Unlabelled: Human chitotriosidase (Chit) increases during the osteoclast differentiation and their activity. We demonstrated that serum Chit was significantly higher in osteoporotic subjects than in healthy control ones and revealed a negative correlation between Chit and bone mineral density (BMD). Objective: Polymorphisms in the CYP19A1 (aromatase) gene influence disease-free survival and bone loss in patients taking aromatase inhibitors (AIs) for estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancers. Because AI use results in severe estrogen deficiency that may lead to changes in body composition, the aim of this study was to determine the effect of the rs700518 polymorphism in the CYP19A1 gene on the changes in body composition among postmenopausal women who were treated with AIs for ER+ breast cancer.

Temozolomide is the current standard of therapy for postoperative patients with glioblastoma starting adjuvant radiotherapy. Hematologic adverse events are the most frequent side effects of temozolomide, while liver toxicity has been reported only in the post-marketing period. Here we report a case of severe temozolomide-induced liver injury during concurrent radiotherapy treatment, at a dose level of 75 mg/m2.

Arabidopsis abcb1 abcb19 double mutants defective in the auxin transporters ABCB1/PGP1 and ABCB19/PGP19 are altered in stamen elongation, anther dehiscence and pollen maturation. To assess the contribution of these transporters to stamen development we performed phenotypic, histological analyses, and in situ hybridizations on abcb1 and abcb19 single mutant flowers. We found that pollen maturation and anther dehiscence are precocious in the abcb1 but not in the abcb19 mutant.

Objective: Generalized proximal, type 2, renal tubular acidosis, also known as Fanconi syndrome, is a generalized dysfunction of the proximal renal tubule characterized by impaired reabsorption and increased urinary loss of phosphate and other solutes, such as uric acid, glucose, amino acids, and bicarbonate. Chronic hypophosphatemia is the second most common cause of osteomalacia after vitamin D deficiency in adult patients and can have a heterogeneous presentation, ranging from mild symptoms such as muscle weakness and skeletal pain to more severe presentation, such as disabling myopathy, severe bone and joint pain, difficulty walking, and even bone fractures.
