Background And Aims: Intestinal fibrosis, a frequent complication of inflammatory bowel disease, is characterized by stricture formation with no pharmacological treatment to date. N-acylethanolamine acid amidase (NAAA) is responsible of acylethanolamides (AEs, e.g.

Diarylheptanoids, secondary metabolites isolated from Zostera marina, are of interest in natural products research due to their biological activities. Zosterabisphenone B (ZBP B) has recently been shown to inhibit the viability of CRC cells.

Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are at high risk of having extra-intestinal manifestations, for example, in the hepatobiliary system. In 30% of patients with IBD, the blood values of liver enzymes, such as AST and ALT, are increased.

However, recent studies have demonstrated that AW can be transformed into a viable white powder by encapsulating it in millet flour. Recently, concerns over the safety of the commonly used food-grade whitener titanium dioxide (TiO) have arisen, and the search for an alternative food-whitening agent has become essential.

Cancer is a genetic and multifactorial disease, influenced by the host and environmental factors. It has been stated that 20% of cancer is caused by microorganisms such as , hepatitis B and C virus, and human papillomavirus.

Here, we reveal the molecular mechanism of TRPM8 and its clinical relevance in colorectal cancer (CRC).
Experimental Approach: TRPM8 expression and its correlation with the survival rate of CRC patients was analysed.
Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) is an endogenous fatty acid amide related to the endocannabinoid anandamide. PEA exerts intestinal anti-inflammatory effects, but knowledge of its role in colon carcinogenesis is still largely fragmentary. We deepened this aspect by studying the effects of PEA (ultramicronized PEA, um-PEA) on colon cancer cell proliferation, migration and cell cycle as well as its effects in a murine model of colon cancer.

Therefore, the purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy of a topical formulation containing both a Brazilian micronized propolis extract and a Peucedanum ostruthium leaf extract for the treatment of wounds created by surgical punch in rats. The study was conducted for 14 days and animals were treated as follows: gauze group (G), polyethylene glycol base ointment (Control), AlpaWash (an ointment containing a Brazilian micronized propolis extract and Peucedanum ostruthium leaf extract [Treatment]), and polysporin (one of the most commonly used topical antibiotic ointments, based on bacitracin zinc and polymyxin B sulfate [Reference Standard]).

An isolated late chest wall recurrence after mastectomy for breast cancer is rare. We present a case of a lady with a T2N1M0 right breast cancer who developed an isolated local recurrence on the chest wall 11 years after mastectomy. Staging investigations excluded distant metastases.

This work describes the configuration and operation of a bioreactor system especially designed for Tetrahymena cultivation and its use for milk improvement, particularly cholesterol elimination by the action of this cell. An advantage of the proposed method is the re-use of the growth medium; thus, the medium is used twice to provide two batches of Tetrahymena biomass without the need of further inoculation. This makes the procedure of producing the cell biomass faster and more economical.

The nonpathogenic ciliate Tetrahymena thermophila converts cholesterol from foodstuffs into provitamin D compounds in high yields. However, prolonged incubation with wild-type strain CU-399 at high densities results in a final deterioration of milk properties, possibly as a result of secreted hydrolases. Here we attempted to solve this problem using MS-1 Tetrahymena strain, a stable mutant with a low rate of hydrolase secretion.

We described in former papers the anatomy of the ductal tree, its changes during ductal ectasia, periductal fibrosis and the onset of epithelial hyperplasia during pregnancy. The present work was aimed at assessing, between the US patterns of ductal enlargement, a ductal pattern indicating breast cancer. 392 women were examined with mammography and real-time US: breast cancer was demonstrated in 34 of them.

Duct ectasia is a generally asymptomatic disorder of the mammary gland, which is usually included in the generic terms of mammary dysplasia, mastopathy, and so on. Nine hundred patients underwent US with a high-definition probe.

Over a 6-month period (September 1991-February 1992), 2,000 films made in the emergency room were transmitted to a resident radiologist 1 kilometer away: each examination included patient's data (sex, age, site of trauma, etc.) which were sent by the admitting physician.

We report a case in which the gas is localized both in the collecting system and in the parenchyma of the kidney. In our experience the percutaneous renal drainage has revealed to be able to dominate the infection but not to preserve renal function.

Our study was aimed at examining the US features of the ductolobular system in physiological condition. To this purpose, all breasts were imaged on the radial plane by rotating the probe around the nipple, thus depicting the ductal system from nipple to gland periphery.
