Introduction: Preoperative anxiety is a negative symptom frequently experienced by surgical patients. This evidence-based-practice (EBP) project evaluated the effectiveness of therapeutic inhaled essential oils (TIEO) on anxiety levels during the preoperative phase of surgery in enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) gynecological patients ages 18 to 65 years old.

Methods: A prospective, preposttest, quasiexperimental design was used to evaluate preoperative anxiety scores.

The purpose of this project was to determine the impact of double gloving during the induction of general anesthesia on the incidence of cross-contamination by the anesthesia provider. In a representative sample of anesthesia providers, induction sequences were initially evaluated using the providers' standard technique (group 0). The same providers were reevaluated after being educated on the double gloving technique (group 1).

The DNP is a terminal degree focusing on the preparation of expert clinicians with advanced leadership, evidence-based practice, and systems management skills. An electronic clinical portfolio (e-portfolio) allows students to showcase their individual experiences, provides an objective measure of their achievement, and demonstrates integration of the core doctoral competencies within each specialty. The purpose of this article was to describe the development of an e-portfolio and provide general guidelines for successful implementation and evaluation.

Hypothermia in the perioperative setting can have serious consequences, including increased risk of infection or adverse cardiac events. Forced-air warming units commonly are used to prevent hypothermia. This study examined the impact of adding preoperative warming (Bair Paws, 3M) to conventional intraoperative forced-air warming modalities.
