Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a fully automated bone age assessment system based on the Tanner-Whitehouse 3 (TW3) method for Korean children and adolescents using hand-wrist X-rays.
  • A sample of 80 subjects (40 boys and 40 girls aged 7-15) was evaluated, comparing the system's bone age estimates to those determined by two experienced radiologists, showing no significant differences.
  • The results indicated a strong correlation between the system's estimates and the radiologists' results, suggesting that the TW3-based system is a reliable tool for assessing bone age in this population.

We developed an automatic method for staging periodontitis on dental panoramic radiographs using the deep learning hybrid method. A novel hybrid framework was proposed to automatically detect and classify the periodontal bone loss of each individual tooth. The framework is a hybrid of deep learning architecture for detection and conventional CAD processing for classification.
