: Primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM) caused by is a rare and devastating infection of the central nervous system, often diagnosed late, due to its rapid progression and nonspecific symptoms. We report one of the youngest documented pediatric Vietnamese cases of PAM in a 10-month-old girl from the Mekong Delta, Vietnam. The diagnosis was confirmed through multiplex real-time PCR (MPL-rPCR), microscopy, and sequencing.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOn-line microdialysis of histamine in 10-min samples of the prefrontal cortex of the conscious rat is described. The HPLC-fluorescent assay for histamine in dialysates has been significantly simplified by using only one postcolumn reagent line instead of the three reagent lines described in earlier methods. The method is selective, sensitive (detection limit: 2-3 fmol on column), and linear over a large concentration range.
