This series of papers addresses the recycling of cathode particles and aluminum (Al) foil from positive electrode sheet (PE sheet) dismantled from spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) by applying a high-voltage pulsed discharge. As concluded in Part I of the series (Tokoro et al., 2021), cathode particles and Al foil were separated in water based on a single pulsed power application.

A cathode particle sample was mechanically separated from a LiB, cut into 30-mm × 80-mm test pieces, and subjected to a high-voltage electrical pulse discharge from either end in water. At a voltage of 25 kV, 93.

We diagnosed threatened abortion because of a gestational sac in the uterus on transvaginal ultrasonography. The next day, she complained of increased abdominal pain.

As well as the search for new antibiotics, a new resource or strains for the known antibiotics is also important. Microbial symbionts in the gut of termites could be regarded as one of the feasible resource for such purpose. In this study, antibiotic-producing actinomycetes were screened from symbionts of the termite gut.

With regard to temperature control, the culture condition was initially maintained at 35 degrees C for cellular growth, but ADK expression was suppressed until the late logarithmic growth phase; subsequently, a temperature shift was applied (from 35 degrees C to 42 degrees C), which resulted in maximal ADK production. In addition, supplementation of amino acids, especially valine and leucine, during the temperature shift stimulated ADK expression from 3.

The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of nitrogen fertilization on the chemical composition of herbage, ensiling process and silage quality, and to contribute to the improvement of tropical-grass silage preparation.
Methods And Results: Guinea grass grown under two different nitrogen-fertilizer application conditions [1.
Racemic phenylsuccinate was stereospecifically degraded by the actinomycetes PS9 and PS17 isolated from soil obtained from Okinawa Island, Japan. Strain PS9, identified as a Citricoccus sp., preferentially degraded the R-form, while strain PS17, identified as a Microbacterium sp.

Since the use of Monascus is expected to increase in food industries, strain-level identification and management of Monascus will be needed in the near future. In the present study, random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis coupled with microchip electrophoresis was applied for this purpose.

For koji (mold rice) with high lovastatin production, separation of the growth phase and lovastatin production phase by shifting the temperature from 30 to 23 degrees C increased lovastatin production by nearly 20 times compared to temperature-constant cultivation. In addition, citrinin was not produced even in the lovastatin production phase, although the pigment was increased.

Among the bacteria tested, several strains belonging to the genera Rhodococcus and Gordonia grew on TDG as the sole sulfur source. The selected strain Rhodococcus sp.

The same microchannel devices covered with a gas permeable membrane were used for both the gas collection and the gas generation. For the first time, a dual liquid flow system was utilized in a micro-gas analysis system.

HONO, NO(2) or NO was collected in an individual diffusion scrubber in which the channel array was filled with either HCl or triethanolamine solution. All analytes were collected in the form of nitrite ions in the scrubber, and were transferred via a 12-port selection valve into a 2.

We report a 65-year-old Japanese lady who suffered from progressive loss of vision and visual field defect. She was well until her 61 years of the age in November of 1999, when she was found to have bitemporal hemianopsia. A small enhancing mass lesion was found in the chiasmatic region.

Most importantly, it has been shown that INO significantly reduces the necessity for extracorporeal lung assist in newborns with hypoxemic respiratory failure and pulmonary hypertension. A large number of basic and clinical studies are making great steps in delineating its physiology, techniques, side effects, and clinical efficacy.

Velocardiofacial syndrome (VCFS) is a congenital disorder characterised by multiple dysmorphisms, cleft palate, cardiac anomalies, and learning disabilities due to a microdeletion of chromosome 22q11.2. Although VCFS is often associated with psychiatric symptoms, its prevalence among psychiatric patients is unknown.

A plasmid DNA was cleaved by aromatic amines in weak acidic conditions at 37 degrees C. The cleavage was not inhibited by 4 hydroxylradical scavengers, EDTA, SOD and catalase. It was strongly influenced by the pH value of the reaction buffer.
