Sinus of valsalva aneurysm is considered to be one of the rarest complications of inflammatory aortitis. Herewith, we are reporting a young male patient who presented to us with severe aortic regurgitation. On evaluation, he was found to have unruptured sinus of valsalva aneurysm.

Re-use of DDD pulse generators explanted from patients died of unrelated causes is associated with an additional cost of two transvenous leads if implanted as DDD itself, and high rate of infection according to some studies. We studied the clinical and economical aspects of reutilization of explanted DDD pacemakers programmed to VDD mode. Out of 28 patients who received VDD pacemaker during the period, October 2000- September 2001 in the Department of Cardiology, PGIMER, Chandigarh, 5 poor patients were implanted with explanted DDD pulse generators programmed to VDD mode.

ESR and total leucocyte count were significantly higher in the group who developed mitral regurgitation, than in the control group.

Laboratory and animal studies also provide evidence of antineoplastic effects of NSAIDs against a variety of solid tumors, including skin cancer. We studied the effects of NSAIDs on malignant melanoma in women utilizing a case control experimental design involving 110 women with histologically proven malignant melanoma, and 609 female controls frequency matched to the cases on age, and place of residence.

This effect was blocked by two known alpha-adrenergic receptor antagonists, prazosin and phenoxybenzamine. Decavanadate, formed by possible dimerization of V5 under acid conditions, possessed a structural feature of two pairs of unshared oxygen atoms at a distance of 3.

The relative risk of breast cancer was reduced in women using these compounds at least 3 times per week for > or = 1 year [odds ratio (OR) = 0.66; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.

Breast cancer cases reported a significantly lower frequency of regular NSAID use than controls (19.1% versus 26.

However, A23187 prefers to be in a dimeric structure with no significant binding to amino acids, at concentrations higher than 10(-4)M. It was also observed that at lower concentrations, at which the amino acids bind to the ionophore, the affinity for calcium ions was several orders of magnitude lower than that at higher ionophore concentrations.

Calls on NCI-approved clinical trials and treatment protocols tripled during the study period (from 6% in 1986 to 20% in 1991, p < 0.01) primarily due to counselor-initiated (proactive) recommendations and actions.

Background: Epidemiologic studies have focused on the association between breast cancer risk and a variety of lifestyle and exogenous factors.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to clarify the effects of alcohol consumption, cigarette smoking, oral contraceptive (OC) use, estrogen replacement therapy (ERT), and body mass on risk of breast cancer.
Methods: These variables were examined in a case-control study of 604 patients with newly diagnosed breast cancer and 520 control subjects who did not have breast cancer and were frequency matched for age, hospital, and time of diagnosis.
Recently, we have developed a sequence-structure database of protein information, NRL_3D, that is extracted from the Protein Data Bank (PDB) of the Brookhaven National Laboratory. NRL_3D provides a vehicle for the retrieval of the three-dimensional coordinates of protein fragments as identified by sequence properties. These data are formulated to allow access by standard sequence analysis programs such as those provided by the Protein Identification Resource (PIR).
