- This study analyzed data from over 142,000 individuals to explore how different types of initial antidepressants affect treatment adherence among newly diagnosed patients with major depression.
- Results showed that patients prescribed tricyclic antidepressants had lower adherence rates compared to those given selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, highlighting the importance of initial medication choice in improving compliance.
Clinical guidelines for depression management recommend continuous antidepressant medication; however, poor adherence to medication is commonly seen in the treatment of depression. Income is an important factor influencing antidepressant medication adherence. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between income level and adherence to antidepressant medication in outpatients with depression.
