The humeral bone is subject to torsional forces. In case of displaced shaft fractures, internal fixation remains the standard of care. This retrospective two-center study assessed the fracture union rate and complications after dual 3.

Background: 3D reconstruction of Wilms' tumor provides several advantages but are not systematically performed because manual segmentation is extremely time-consuming. The objective of our study was to develop an artificial intelligence tool to automate the segmentation of tumors and kidneys in children.

Methods: A manual segmentation was carried out by two experts on 14 CT scans.

Background: Trampolining is popular and widely practiced among children. A literature review has shown a rise in the incidence of trampoline injuries with a concomitant increase in paediatric emergency department visits. The primary objective of this study was to describe the severity of trampoline injuries in children.

Purpose: The objective of this meta-analysis and systematic review is to compare the methodology and evaluate the efficacy of Enhanced recovery after Spine Surgery (ERAS) for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) and to compare the outcomes with traditional discharge (TD) pathways.

Methods: Using major databases, a systematic search was performed. Studies comparing the implementation of ERAS or ERAS-like and TD pathways in patients with AIS were identified.

Introduction:  The successful surgical treatment of paediatric spinal deformity relies on robust anchors to achieve correction. Uniaxial pedicle screws are designed with articulation between the screw head and screw shaft, thus reducing the risk of anchor failure whilst permitting corrective manoeuvres. The purpose of this study was to describe the incidence, nature, and chronology of implant-related complications in pediatric spinal deformity treated with uniaxial pedicle screws.

Introduction: Epidemiological studies of fractures of the spine in children are all old, mostly single-centre, with series spanning periods of 5 to 20 years.

Hypothesis: As lifestyle is constantly changing, notably with an increase in sports activities and improvements in the prevention of road and household accidents, epidemiology has likely changed.

Objective: To update the description of spinal trauma in children and adolescents compared to the existing literature.

There are very few published studies describing the treatment of segmental bone defects of the forearm using the induced membrane technique. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the time to bone union, the function of the joints above and below the treated bone segment and the patients' quality of life over the long-term. We performed a retrospective study in all patients treated by the induced membrane for a forearm bone defect over at 13-year period.

Introduction: Burnout is a pathology that can affect care-giving professionals. It associates emotional exhaustion (EE), depersonalization (DP) and impaired personal accomplishment (PA). Surgery entails great responsibility and frequently heavy workloads, incurring risk of burnout.

The goals of distal radius fracture treatment in patients above 65 years of age would not change over time if the fracture were the only factor to consider. However, people change, and fixation methods also change. Since this fracture heals in nearly every case and volar plates have eliminated the worry of malunion, we are left with two main goals.

An alarming increase in microbial resistance to traditional drugs and classical pharmacophores has spurred the search for new antimicrobial compounds. Indolone-N-oxides (INODs) possess a redox pharmacophore with promising, recently established, antimalarial activities. In this study, the anti-infectious properties of a series of INODs were investigated.

Castration resistant prostate cancer occurs when patients experience disease progression despite appropriate hormonal manipulations. In these patients, chemotherapy remains standard treatment. Preclinical and clinical data have demonstrated the potential utility of an immunotherapy-based approach for the treatment of prostate cancer (PC).

Although indolone-N-oxide (INODs) genereting long-lived radicals possess antiplasmodial activity in the low-nanomolar range, little is known about their mechanism of action. To explore the molecular basis of INOD activity, we screened for changes in INOD-treated malaria-infected erythrocytes (Pf-RBCs) using a proteomics approach. At early parasite maturation stages, treatment with INODs at their IC(50) concentrations induced a marked tyrosine phosphorylation of the erythrocyte membrane protein band 3, whereas no effect was observed in control RBCs.

The binding affinity of human serum albumin (HSA) to three antimalarial indolone-N-oxide derivatives, INODs, was investigated under simulated physiological conditions using fluorescence spectroscopy in combination with UV-vis absorption and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy. Analysis of fluorescence quenching data of HSA by these compounds at different temperatures using Stern-Volmer and Lineweaver-Burk methods revealed the formation of a ground state indolone-HSA complex with binding affinities of the order 10(4) M(-1). The thermodynamic parameters ΔG, ΔH, and ΔS, calculated at different temperatures, indicated that the binding reaction was endothermic and hydrophobic interactions play a major role in this association.

A series of 66 new indolone-N-oxide derivatives was synthesized with three different methods. Compounds were evaluated for in vitro activity against CQ-sensitive (3D7), CQ-resistant (FcB1), and CQ and pyrimethamine cross-resistant (K1) strains of Plasmodium falciparum (P.f.

Although aneurysms of the common iliac artery are a rare occurrence they should be investigated routinely in patients with urinary or thrombo-embolic venous manifestations in the pelvis minor. Clinical signs are inconstant and diagnosis requires the use of abdominopelvic ultrasound tomography. Venous and urinary complications constitute warning signals suggesting the need for surgery to avoid sudden or untimely rupture.

In this paper, the design and testing of the control of a new visual screener are described. The equipment is composed of a push-pull lever, an electronic digitalizer and a display on which Landolt rings are presented. The problem to be solved was to check whether the eight directions in which the lever could be oriented were equally reliable.
