Hemangiomas of the pericardium are very rare primary pericardial tumours. Very few cases of pericardial hemangioma have been reported in the literature till date. We are reporting a case of a 40 years old male who presented with the complaints of chest discomfort and palpitation on exertion, of 3 months duration.

A 25-year-old woman, third gravid, with previous two miscarriages presented to the emergency at 17 weeks 2 days of gestation with complaints of pain in the abdomen for 1 day and decreased urine output for 2 days. She was in shock. There was no history of bleeding per vaginum, trauma, surgical procedure or medical illness.

Aim: This study was undertaken to evaluate the diagnostic utility and pitfalls of fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) in oral and oropharyngeal lesions.

Materials And Methods: This was a retrospective audit of oral and oropharyngeal lesions diagnosed with FNAC over a period of six years (2005-2010).

Results: Oral/oropharyngeal lesions [n=157] comprised 0.

Fungal microorganisms as a cause of gastric perforation, is very rare. Most of the cases of gastric perforation are seen as the complications of peptic ulcer disease, the intake of NSAIDs (Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs), neoplastic diseases, etc. We are reporting a case of a 50 year old male who presented with a sudden onset of abdominal pain and shock and was diagnosed as acute peritonitis which was caused by a gastrointestinal perforation.

Premature ovarian failure is defined as the loss of functional follicles below the age of 40 years and the incidence of this abnormality is 0.1% among the 30-40 years age group. Unexplained POF is clinically recognized as amenorrhoea (>6 months) with low level of oestrogen and raised level of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH > 20 IU/l) occurring before the age of 40.

Malignant mixed Müllerian tumor (MMMT)/carcinosarcoma is a rare neoplasm of the female genital tract characterized by a mixture of epithelial and mesenchymal components. There are published reports of conventional cervical smear findings in uterine MMMT, but to the best of our knowledge the cytomorphology of MMMT in SurePath™ liquid-based cytology samples has not been described. We present a series of eight cases of uterine MMMT in SurePath™ cervical samples.

This study was undertaken to identify the situations in which a diagnosis of "Atypical squamous cells, cannot exclude a high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (ASC-H)" is offered in SurePath™ cervical samples and to identify cytological criteria helpful in predicting high-grade disease. 2,335 (3.4%) SurePath samples reported as atypical squamous cells (ASC) over a period of 2 years, including 1,112 cases with known hrHPV status were retrieved.

Symptomatic choroidal metastasis is a rare presenting manifestation of lung cancer. We describe here 3 patients with non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer who presented with choroidal metastasis and who were diagnosed and treated by the authors. We performed a systematic literature review of the previously reported patients with choroidal metastasis from lung cancer in the English-language literature.

The fabrication of sub-100 nm features with bioactive molecules is a laborious and expensive process. To overcome these limitations, we present a modular strategy to create nanostructured substrates (ca. 25 nm features) using functional block copolymers (BCPs) based on poly(styrene--ethylene oxide) to controllably promote or inhibit cell adhesion.

The role of fine-needle aspiration (FNA) cytology in the evaluation of thyroid lesions in not as well established in children when compared with adults. Hence we aimed to ascertain the utility and limitations of FNA in childhood thyroid lesions. This was a retrospective analysis of all thyroid FNA performed in children less than 14 years of age over a 4-year period (2005-2009).

We report the cytological features of two cases of chondromyxoid fibroma (CMF) confirmed by histopathology examination. First case was a 40-year-old male who presented with a foot swelling, and the second case was a 16-year-old male with a lesion at the angle of jaw. A fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) was performed in both the cases.

Fibromatosis form a spectrum of clinicopathologic entities characterized by the infiltrative proliferation of fibroblasts that lack malignant cytologic features. The fibromatosis can be localized or infiltrative and multicentric and can involve internal tissues and organs as the mesentery, retroperitoneum, breast, and almost every organ and region of the body, including the bones, the meninges and the central nervous system. We report a case of 37-year-old male who presented with a right supraclavicular mass with superficial infiltrative type of fibromatosis and fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) was performed.

Cervical screening in England commenced in a disorganized fashion in 1964. The flaws of this approach became apparent in the mid-1980s and led to the inception of the National Health Service Cervical Screening Programme (NHSCSP). The main features of this program are its population-based registry, accessibility to all women within the screening age range, its systematic process of call and recall, national coordination, and quality assurance.

Hepatoblastoma (HB) is classified into epithelial, mixed (epithelial/mesenchymal), and small-cell (anaplastic) type. Wnt/β-catenin pathway plays a key role in hepatic development, regeneration, and tumorigenesis, and HB is known to present β-catenin mutations (50-90%). The present study was undertaken to delineate the cytomorphologic features of HB and to evaluate the feasibility of subtyping of HB on fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC).

To study the morphometric features of insular carcinoma (IC) of thyroid and follicular carcinoma (FC) in fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) smear to evaluate the role of the morphometric features to distinguish these two groups. We performed image morphometry in Hematoxyline and Eosin stained FNAC smears of eight each histopathology proven cases of IC and FC of thyroid. Nuclear area, diameter, perimeter, and standard deviation of nuclear area (SDNA) of these two groups were studied and compared.

Objectives: Human papilloma virus (HPV) has been repeatedly found in esophageal carcinoma tissues. However, detection rates of HPV DNA in these tumors have varied markedly. Differences in detection methods, sample types and geographic regions of the sample origin have been suggested as potential causes of this discrepancy.

Allyl glycidyl ether, polymerized from potassium alkoxide/naphthalenide initiators under both neat and solution conditions was shown to be a highly-controlled process. In both cases, molar masses (10-100 kg/mol) were determined by the reaction stoichiometry, and low polydispersity indices (1.05-1.

We report a case of Giant Cell Tumour of the femoral head in a 22-year-old man that was excised and reconstructed with an osteochondral allograft. After 3.5 years follow-up, the graft had completely united and there were no signs of recurrence or resorption; the patient had an excellent functional outcome.
