Objective: To elucidate the therapeutic effect of orthopedic surgical intervention (OSI) in difficult-to-treat rheumatoid arthritis (D2T RA) compared with non-D2T RA.
Methods: A total of 534 recent surgeries were analyzed only in patients who had undergone OSI since 2016 and for whom a 12-month post-operative follow-up was available. D2T RA was determined according to the EULAR definition, and patients with D2T RA were matched to patients with non-D2T RA using propensity scores calculated by a logistic regression analysis.
The area under the concentration-time curve (AUC)/minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) - guided approach is recommended for vancomycin therapeutic drug monitoring in severe methicillin-resistant (MRSA) infection. However, evidence regarding the efficacy of vancomycin AUC-guided strategies for the treatment of systemic infections is limited. Patients And Methods: All enrolled patients (n=350) underwent curative resection of rectal cancer with D3 lymph node dissection, with either IMA (high-tie) or superior rectal artery (SRA) (low-tie) ligation.
Results: There were 27 and 65 patients in the high-tie and low-tie groups, respectively.
Although thin elastomer films of polymer nanoparticles are regarded as environmentally friendly materials, the low mechanical strength of the films limits their use in various applications. In the present study, we investigated the fracture resistance of latex films composed of acrylic nanoparticles where a small quantity of a rotaxane crosslinker was introduced. In contrast to conventional nanoparticle-based elastomers, the latex films composed of the rotaxane-crosslinked nanoparticles exhibited unusual crack propagation behavior; the direction of crack propagation changed from a direction parallel to the crack to one perpendicular to the crack, resulting in an increase in tear resistance.
