Recently, ultrasound (US) imaging has been used to estimate the cross-sectional area of skeletal muscle, but the reliability is uncertain. To improve the reliability of the US, we investigated skeletal muscle thickness measurement using an inertial measurement unit (IMU) to determine the direction of US beam incidence based on posture angle information. Here we performed mutation analyses of the NFAT1 gene in human cartilaginous tumors including 30 chondrosarcomas and 15 enchondromas.
