Adenoid cystic carcinoma of maxillary sinus: report of two cases.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma infrequently affects paranasal sinuses. It's a slowly progressing, aggressive cancer with a tendency to invade nerves. The research underscores the significance of prompt diagnosis and effective management of adenoid cystic carcinoma.

Tuberculous otomastoiditis in children complicated by homolateral sigmoid sinus thrombosis: a case report.

Tuberculosis is a major public health problem in Morocco and most of the developing countries but tuberculous otomastoiditis is quite rare. Here we report a case where a seven-year-old patient had chronic right otomastoiditis and retro-auricular fistula, whose specificity is its persistence after prolonged unsuccessful medical and surgical therapy for more than 2 months, and its complication by homolateral sigmoid sinus thrombosis. Computed Tomography (CT) scan of temporal bones showed complete destruction of right mastoid cells and a hypodense complement in the right middle ear.

Emergency Endoscopic Endonasal Optic Nerve Decompression for Graves' Orbitopathy.

Graves' orbitopathy (GO) is a rare autoimmune disease that affects patients in their fourth to sixth decade, resulting in retro-orbital inflammation and hypertrophy of extraocular muscles and orbital fat. It is the most common disease affecting the orbit globally, and treatment options vary depending on the severity and activity status of the affection, ranging from local measures such as lubricating eye drops and patching, glucocorticoid eye drops, mydriatics, nonsteroid anti-inflammatory medications to systemic glucocorticoids, and emergency orbital decompression surgery. Immunotherapy and orbital radiation may as well be used as a treatment option even though their efficiency remains controversial.

The Performance of GeneXpert in the Diagnosis of Lymph Node Tuberculosis: A Prospective Study Comparing GeneXpert and Culture Findings.

Background and objective Lymph node tuberculosis (LNTB) is a common manifestation of extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB). GeneXpert is a rapid diagnostic molecular test that simultaneously detects tuberculosis and rifampicin (RIF) resistance. In this study, we aimed to assess the epidemiology of LNTB and diagnostic performance parameters of the GeneXpert in routine ENT practice.

Goodhill syndrome: a case report.

Conductive hearing loss with a normal tympanic membrane is a common reason for otolaryngology consultation, with otospongiosis being the most frequent cause and House syndrome being extremely rare, requiring systematic investigation. We report the case of a 31-year-old woman who presented with conductive hearing loss with a normal tympanic membrane. A temporal bone computed tomography (CT) scan confirmed a House-Goodhill syndrome due to fixation of the malleus head.

Cartilaginous Myringoplasty: Anatomical and Functional Results.

Introduction:  Myringoplasty remains a topical subject. Our study aims at analyzing the anatomical and functional results of cartilaginous myringoplasty, and also determining the main factors that could influence its results.

Materials And Methods:  A retrospective study of 51 cases of tympanic perforations operated at the ENT department of the Hassan II University Hospital of Fez between January 2018 and November 2021.

Evaluation of the Yield of Histopathology in the Diagnosis of Lymph Node Tuberculosis in Morocco, 2017: Cross-Sectional Study.

Background: The frequency of occurrence of extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) has been increasing globally over the last two decades. In Morocco, EPTB cases account for 46% of the patients reported with a new episode of tuberculosis (TB). Lymph node TB (LNTB) is the most common form of EPTB.

Lymphoepithelial carcinoma: a case report of a rare tumor of the larynx.

Background: Lymphoepithelial carcinoma is a tumor mostly diagnosed in the nasopharynx, but it has also been described in a variety of nonnasopharyngeal sites. It is extremely rare in the larynx and should be distinguished from squamous cell carcinoma. Therefore, it must be known by clinicians, pathologists and oncologists.

Acoustic assessment of erygmophonic speech of Moroccan laryngectomized patients.

Introduction: Acoustic evaluation of alaryngeal voices is among the most prominent issues in speech analysis field. In fact, many methods have been developed to date to substitute the classic perceptual evaluation. The Aim of this study is to present our experience in erygmophonic speech objective assessment and to discuss the most widely used methods of acoustic speech appraisal.

Vertebral artery dissection due to an esophageal foreign body migration: a case report.

Unintentional foreign bodies' swallowing is a fairly common occurrence in ENT consultation especially among children. They usually pass through the gastrointestinal tract without complications. Migration of a foreign body through the esophageal wall is rare.

[Cancer patient satisfaction survey in a Moroccan university hospital].

Objectives: Assessment of patient satisfaction helps to guide hospital strategies concerning optimal patient management. The objective of this study was to evaluate the satisfaction of cancer patients hospitalised at Fez university hospital, to study the various components of satisfaction and to integrate the patient in quality of care improvement policies.

Methods: A prospective study was conducted in two voluntary wards of the hospital.

[Cervical tuberculous lymphadenitis: the location of surgery].

Introduction: In spite of the current effectiveness of antibacillary chemotherapy in most tubercular sites, peripheral lymph node involvement continues to pose a challenge to treatment.

Patients And Methods: It is a retrospective study, from 2002 to 2005, of 326 patients treated at the otorhinolaryngology department of Hassan II University Hospital, Fez, Morocco, for cervical lymph node tuberculosis.

Results: The tuberculosis of lymph nodes accounts for more than 23% of all affections managed in our department.

[Hydatid cyst of the parotid gland: six cases].

Primary hydatid cyst of the parotid gland is still an exceptional localization. The parotid gland is an uncommon site, even in our country, in which echinococcal disease is endemic. We report six cases of primary hydatid cyst of the parotid gland who presented with an isolated mass.
