Lung cancer (LC) is one of the most common causes of cancer-related death worldwide. It has been demonstrated that the prognosis of current drug treatments is affected by a variety of factors, including late stage, tumor recurrence, inaccessibility to appropriate treatments, and, most importantly, chemotherapy resistance. Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) contribute to tumor development, with some acting as tumor suppressors and others as oncogenes.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of dietary supplementation of arginine (ARG) or guanidinoacetic acid (GAA), with or without phenylalanine (PHE), on the ascites susceptibility in the cold-stressed broilers fed canola meal (CM)-based diet.

Method: A total of 450 one-day-old male broiler chicks were randomly allocated to 30 floor pens with 6 replications for each of the 5 treatments. The dietary treatments were as follows: CM-based diet (control), CM-based diet + 2.

Milk is a highly nutritious food essential for human consumption. However, traditional thermal processing methods can reduce its nutritional value and cause unwanted changes. The use of shock waves produced by pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs) has been explored as a means to reduce pathogenic microorganisms.

Selection of biodegradable chitosan as a raw material is a smart technique due to its easy modifiability and high renewability. Herein, taking advantage of these functional characteristics, an ionic biopolymer support is produced from copolymerization of allylated chitosan (with 48 % degree of substitution) and polymerizable ionic liquid ([MEVIm]Br). Next, palladium nanoparticles are successfully stabilized in this designed support through a facile manner based on interconnected porous network, ionic nature and rich functional groups.

Non-functioning pituitary adenomas (NFPAs) are a group of pituitary tumors lacking manifestations linked to high hormone production, such as acromegaly and Cushing's syndrome. NFPA carcinogenesis depends on several molecular players. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a class of molecular players whose role in tumorigenesis has just recently been recognized.

As a common metabolic disorder, hyperglycemia (HG) affects and disrupts the physiology of various systems in the body. Transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) has been used to control the complications of disease. Most of the therapeutic properties of MSCs are attributed to their secretome.

In order to evaluate the effects of ARG sources (arginine [ARG] and Guanidinoacetic acid [GAA]) and phenylalanine (PHE) supplementation on performance, susceptibility to ascites, intestinal morphology, and nutrient digestibility in the cold-stressed broilers fed a canola meal (CM)-based diet, a 2×2 factorial experiment with four treatments was conducted. The dietary treatments included CM-based diet + 2.57 g/kg ARG, CM-based diet + 2.

Background: The role of activation of inflammatory processes in the exacerbation of COVID-19 disease has been fully confirmed. In addition, the occurrence of thromboembolic events in patients with COVID-19 is expected even long after recovery from the disease. However, which factors are essentially prognostic for this disease is still not theoretically agreed upon.

As a relatively new specialty with a minimally invasive nature, the field of interventional radiology is rapidly growing. Although the application of robotic systems in this field shows great promise, such as with increased precision, accuracy, and safety, as well as reduced radiation dose and potential for teleoperated procedures, the progression of these technologies has been slow. This is partly due to the complex equipment with complicated setup procedures, the disruption to theatre flow, the high costs, as well as some device limitations, such as lack of haptic feedback.

Solar parabolic dish concentrator is one of the high-temperature applications of more than 400 °C for thermal and electrical power generation. In the solar parabolic dish concentrator, the arrangement of reflectors over the surface area is the significant factor for effective concentration of solar radiation. Also, focal image is one of the most influencing parameters in the design of receiver.

The reaction between ninhydrin-malononitrile adduct [2-(1,3-dioxo-1,3-dihydro-2H-inden-2-ylidene)malononitrile] and ethyl 2-(alkylamino)-4-aryl-4-oxo-but-2-enoates (prepared from ethyl 2,4-dioxo-4-arylbutanoate and alkylamines) in the presence of EtN in MeCN at room temperature afforded 3-alkylamino-2-aryloyl-1',3',4-trioxo-1',3'-dihydrospiro[cyclopentane-1,2'-inden]-2-ene-5,5-dicarbonitriles in 78-95% yields. Five derivatives of these NH-acidic compounds are used to intercept the reactive zwitterionic intermediates generated from dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate and PhP to produce dimethyl 4,4-dicyano-6-aryloyl-1-alkyl-1',3'-dioxo-1',2,3',4-tetrahydro-1H-spiro[cyclopenta[b]pyrrole-5,2'-indene]-2,3-dicarboxylates. Radical scavenging activity of four derivatives was investigated by radical trapping of diphenylpicrylhydrazine and ferric reduction power experiments.

Article Synopsis
  • The study compares the antibody response of healthy individuals vaccinated with either the AstraZeneca or Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccines, focusing on those with no prior infection.
  • It involved 37 participants, with 17 receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine and 20 the Sinopharm vaccine, whose antibody levels were measured four weeks after each dose using ELISA.
  • Results showed significantly higher levels of neutralizing antibodies and anti-receptor-binding domain IgG in AstraZeneca recipients compared to Sinopharm, indicating a potential need for booster doses in Sinopharm recipients to enhance their immune response.

Background: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a hemodynamic and pathophysiological disease defined by a mean pulmonary artery pressure of ≥20 mm Hg. Pulmonary hypertension severity and prognosis play an essential role in the management of these patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in patients with PH referred to Masih Daneshvari Hospital, Tehran, Iran.

To estimate the repro-protective effect of royal jelly (RJ) on phenylhydrazine (PHZ)-induced anemia's detrimental effects, 24 mature mice were divided into control group (0.10 mL normal saline; intra-peritoneally), RJ group (100 mg/kg/day; orally), experimental anemia (EA) group that received only PHZ (6 mg/100 g/48 h; intra-peritoneally), and RJ + EA (according to the previous prescription) group. After 35 days, testicular histoarchitecture, RNA damage in germinal cells, sperm characteristics, testicular total anti-oxidant capacity and malondialdehyde as well as serum testosterone levels, pre-implantation embryo development and cyclin D1 and c-myc mRNA levels at two-cell, morula and blastocyst stages were analyzed.

Although poly (ionic liquids) (PILs) have attracted great research interest owing to their various applications, the performance of nanoporous PILs has been rarely developed in the catalysis field. To this end, a micro-mesoporous PIL with acid-base bifunctional active sites was designed and fabricated by two different polymerization protocols including hydrothermal and classical precipitation polymerization in this paper. Based on our observations, hydrothermal conditions (high temperature and pressure) enabled the proposed sonocatalyst to possess a great porous structure with a high specific surface area ( : 315 m g) and thermal stability (around 450 °C for 45% weight loss) through strengthening cross-linking.

Wind power is one of the most popular sources of renewable energies with an ideal extractable value that is limited to 0.593 known as the Betz-Joukowsky limit. As the generated power of wind machines is proportional to cubic wind speed, therefore it is logical that a small increment in wind speed will result in significant growth in generated power.
