Diffuse-type giant cell tumor (Dt-GCT), formerly known as pigmented villonodular synovitis, is the more aggressive entity belonging to the spectrum of benign proliferative lesions of synovial origin that may affect the joints, bursae, and tendon sheaths. Diffuse-type giant cell tumor's importance stems from its local aggressiveness and sequelae if left untreated. This review briefly describes Dt-GCT's clinical features, its imaging and pathology findings, and provides an extensive discussion of its available treatments.

Introduction: Knee stiffness post-total knee arthroplasty (TKA) represents a common and challenging complication. Standard treatment protocols primarily include physical therapy, manipulation under anesthesia (MUA), fibrotic tissue release, lysis of adhesions (LOA), and in refractory cases, revision arthroplasty. However, these interventions often show minimal improvement in refractory cases.

Introduction: Radial head dislocations in children can result from congenital anomalies, traumatic events, or as part of more complex injuries like Monteggia fractures. These dislocations are rare and may be overlooked unless considered in differential diagnoses.

Case Presentation: We describe a unique instance of a post-traumatic isolated lateral radial head dislocation in a 5-year-old boy with no previous medical concerns.

Introduction And Importance: Intracranial dermoid cysts (IDC) are defined as rare, slow-growing cystic congenital neoplasms. Rupture of an intracranial dermoid cyst occurs rarely and most often spontaneously and results in potentially serious symptoms.

Case Presentation: A39-year-old female, with mechanical prosthetic heart valve presented with history of headache for 10 months and generalized tonicoclonic seizures.

Introduction: In adults, fibrosarcoma (FS) of the bone is a rare occurrence. Infantile FS, particularly in the distal radius, is an exceedingly uncommon tumor and, to the best of our knowledge, has not yet been documented in the literature. In the subsequent report, we present a case involving a 2-year-old male diagnosed with primary FS of the distal radius.

Introduction: Meniscal pathology constitutes a major reason for a vast number of patients suffering from knee pain. It is, in general, attributed either to meniscal tearing or degeneration. Debridement and partial meniscectomy, or repair, when possible, is the mainstay surgical approach for refractory knee pain from meniscal degeneration or tears.

Unlabelled: Glioblastoma is the most common primary malignant brain tumor in adults. It is enhanced by the abnormal proliferation of central nervous system cells called astrocytes. Microvascular endothelial proliferation is one of the criteria for a histological diagnosis.

Background: Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs) have recently been studied for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. The goal is pain reduction and improvement of joint function leading to superior health-related quality of life.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to provide a comprehensive meta-analysis assessing the evidence on the use of ADMSCs in knee osteoarthritis.

Background: Osteochondromas are the most common benign bone tumors occurring near the end of long bones. In this case report, we demonstrate the successful treatment of a proximal femoral osteochondroma in a pediatric patient excised through a dual medial and anterior approach with no hip dislocation.

Case Presentation: We present the case of a white Arab 14-year-old boy with chronic hip pain and inability to ambulate.

Background: Knee arthroplasty for knee arthritis is a commonly performed surgery yielding excellent functional results and good pain relief. It is associated with post-surgical complications according to the type of anesthesia and BMI class.

Methods: The National Surgical Quality Improvement Project database for the years 2005-2012 for patients >18 years of age who underwent knee arthroplasty, condyle and plateau, medial and/or lateral compartment.

Aim: This article aims to compare the outcomes between open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) and external fixation (ExFix) in tibial plateau fractures.

Background: Open reduction and internal fixation and external fixation are common methods for managing tibial plateau fractures without a consensus of choice.

Materials And Methods: PubMed, Cochrane Library, Ovid, CINAHL®, Scopus, and Embase were searched.

Primary Dural lymphoma (PDL) is a rare pathology that occurs in immunocompetent patients. In such cases, these lesions may mimic more common intracranial tumors. We present the case of a patient who presented an intra cranial hypertension syndrome; the brain MRI showed a tissular mass that we took for a meningioma; upon surgical intervention, an occult mass was discovered.

Kernohan Woltman Notch Phenomenon (KWNP) is caused by a supratentorial lesion pressing the contralateral cerebral peduncle against the free edge of the tentorium of the cerebellum. It is manifested by neurological signs of ipsilateral localization; cerebral MRI is the most sensitive examination for KWNP. Our patient is a 50-year-old woman, operated in 2011 for aortic and mitral valve replacement by mechanical prosthesis, under oral anticoagulant, consults for headaches evolving for 20 days without any notion of head trauma with installation of a progressively worsening left hemibody deficit.

Background: Several anesthetic techniques have been used for pilonidal sinus surgery such as general, spinal, and local anesthesia infiltration. However, the most effective technique remains controversial. The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of sacrococcygeal local anesthesia for complicated pilonidal cysts in terms of postoperative analgesic consumption.

Case: Avascular necrosis (AVN) and nonunion are common complications encountered with scaphoid waist fractures. We present a case of a 23-year-old man presenting with a right scaphoid fracture nonunion associated with AVN of the proximal pole. He was treated with a 1,2 intercompartmental supraretinacular arterial bone graft (Zaidemberg technique) in combination with a dorsal plate yielding excellent functional and radiographic results.

The p21 activated kinases (PAKs) are known to play a role in the regulation of cell morphology and functions. Among the various members of PAKs family, only the PAK4 protein has been shown to be overexpressed in cancer cells and its upregulation was associated with tumor development. Indeed, several studies have shown that PAK4 overexpression is implicated in carcinogenesis by different mechanisms including promotion of cell proliferation, invasion and migration, protection of cells from apoptosis, stimulation of the tumor-specific anchorage-independent cell growth and regulation of the cytoskeletal organisation and adhesion.

This paper presents the case of an 18-year-old woman in the 31st week of pregnancy complaining for 8 months a several episodes of vomiting and headache the neurological examination revealed muscle power was 3/5 on left side. The cerebral MRI revealed an intracranial hydatid cyst. The cyst was surgically removed under general anesthesia and put it on albendazole, the diagnosis has been confirmed by the histopathological examination.

We demonstrate that under ambient and humidity-controlled conditions, operation of bimodal excitation single-scan electric force microscopy with no electrical feedback loop increases the spatial resolution of surface electrical property measurements down to the 5 nm limit. This technical improvement is featured on epitaxial graphene layers on SiC, which is used as a model sample. The experimental conditions developed to achieve such resolution are discussed and linked to the stable imaging achieved using the proposed method.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a deep cervical plexus block compared to a placebo in treating myofascial neck and shoulder pain over a 2-week period.
  • A total of 66 patients were randomly assigned to receive either the block injection or a saline solution, with results showing significantly lower pain levels and opioid usage in the block group.
  • Findings suggest that deep cervical plexus block may be a viable alternative to traditional pain management for individuals suffering from myofascial pain, particularly benefiting those with a shorter pain history.
