Following the publication of this paper, it was drawn to the Editors' attention by a concerned reader that certain of the Transwell cell migration and invasion assay data shown in Fig. 3B were strikingly similar to data appearing in different form in a pair of other articles written by different authors at different research institutes, one of which had already been published elsewhere prior to the submission of this paper to , and one of which was under consideration for publication at around the same time. In view of the fact that the abovementioned data had already apparently been published previously, the Editor of has decided that this paper should be retracted from the Journal.

The aim of the present study was to identify the function of long non‑coding RNA (lncRNA) small nucleolar RNA host gene 3 (SNHG3) and examine its effects on non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). A series of experiments were employed to evaluate the effects of SNHG3 on the progression of NSCLC, including Cell Counting Kit‑8, 5‑Ethynyl‑2'‑deoxyuridine, flow cytometry, wound healing, Transwell, western blotting and reverse transcription‑quantitative PCR assays. Bioinformatics analyses and a luciferase reporter assay were performed to identify the target gene of SNHG3 and microRNA (miR)‑1343‑3p.
