Objective: To explore the experiences of people living with long COVID and how they perceive the healthcare services available to them.

Design: Qualitative systematic review.

Data Sources: Electronic literature searches of websites, bibliographic databases and discussion forums, including PubMed LitCovid, Proquest COVID, EPPI Centre living systematic map of evidence, medRxiv, bioRxiv, Medline, Psychinfo and Web of Science Core Collection were conducted to identify qualitative literature published in English up to 13 January 2021.

Benthic phosphorus cycling within the Eurasian marginal sea ice zone.

The Arctic Ocean region is currently undergoing dramatic changes, which will likely alter the nutrient cycles that underpin Arctic marine ecosystems. Phosphate is a key limiting nutrient for marine life but gaps in our understanding of the Arctic phosphorus (P) cycle persist. In this study, we investigate the benthic burial and recycling of phosphorus using sediments and pore waters from the Eurasian Arctic margin, including the Barents Sea slope and the Yermak Plateau.

MALDI-MS Protein Profiling of Chemoresistance in Extracellular Vesicles of Cancer Cells.

Cancer cells communicate with the whole organism via extracellular vesicles (EVs), which propagate molecular information in support of the malignant phenotype. Barrow Island, north-west coast of Australia, is one of the world's significant conservation areas, harboring marsupials that have become extinct or threatened on mainland Australia as well as a rich diversity of plants and animals, some endemic. Access to construct a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant, Australia's largest infrastructure development, on the island was conditional on no non-indigenous species (NIS) becoming established. We developed a comprehensive biosecurity system to protect the island's biodiversity.

Drug-disease and drug-drug interactions: systematic examination of recommendations in 12 UK national clinical guidelines.

Objective: To identify the number of drug-disease and drug-drug interactions for exemplar index conditions within National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) clinical guidelines.

Design: Systematic identification, quantification, and classification of potentially serious drug-disease and drug-drug interactions for drugs recommended by NICE clinical guidelines for type 2 diabetes, heart failure, and depression in relation to 11 other common conditions and drugs recommended by NICE guidelines for those conditions.

Synthesis and activity of analogues of the isoleucyl tRNA synthetase inhibitor SB-203207.

Twenty two analogues of SB-203207 have been prepared by total synthesis, and evaluated as inhibitors of a range of tRNA synthetases. Changes to the bicyclic core, removing either the terminal amino substituent or the sulfonyl group from the side chain, and altering either the carbon skeleton or stereochemistry of the isoleucine residue, decreases the potency of inhibition of isoleucyl tRNA synthetase. Substituting the isoleucine residue with other amino acids produces inhibitors of the corresponding synthetases.

Multi-component assembly of the bicyclic core associated with the tRNA synthetase inhibitors SB-203207 and SB-203208. Application to the synthesis of biologically active analogues.

The ketone (+/-)-5, which embodies the bicyclic core associated with the title tRNA synthetase inhibitors 1 and 2, has been prepared via a three-component coupling reaction involving 2-(hydroxymethyl)cyclopent-2-enone (15), methylamine (6) and propiolamide (10); straightforward elaboration of the readily derived acetates (-)-21 and (+)-21 has provided the biologically active analogues 23 and 24, respectively, of the title compounds.

Analogues of SB-203207 as inhibitors of tRNA synthetases.

SB-203207 and 10 analogues have been prepared, by elaboration of altemicidin, and evaluated as inhibitors of isoleucyl, leucyl and valyl tRNA synthetases (IRS, LRS, and VRS, respectively). Substituting the isoleucine residue of SB-203207 with leucine and valine increased the potency of inhibition of LRS and VRS, respectively. The leucine derivative showed low level antibacterial activity, while several of the compounds inhibited IRS from Staphylococcus aureus WCUH29 more strongly than rat liver IRS.

CleftNet (Scotland): a network for the treatment of cleft palate speech using EPG.

Electropalatography (EPG) has proven its effectiveness in changing abnormal articulatory placement in cleft palate speech but clinicians often do not have ready access to such equipment. In order to improve access to EPG therapy, a network has been established which electronically links cleft palate centres throughout Scotland with EPG specialists based at Queen Margaret College (QMC), Edinburgh. The network was set up through a collaborative project entitled 'CleftNet Scotland', funded by the Scottish Office Department of Health.

Tests of six continuous flow CPAP devices.

Six continuous flow CPAP devices were tested for pressure fluctuation and stability of inhaled oxygen concentration under conditions of simulated respiration. Four of the systems, the Ambu, Auspap, Downs'-Vital Signs and the Dräger are commercially available and two, the Prince Henry (PHH) and the Prince of Wales (POW) systems were assembled from Bird respirator parts, which were available in the respective Intensive Care Units. Does the radial arterial line degrade the performance of a pulse oximeter?

The presence of radial arterial lines may diminish distal digital perfusion. Using a pair of pulse oximeters on the index fingers of cannulated and noncannulated arms the saturation and oximeter pulse strength were assessed. Three hundred paired measurements in fifty consecutive Intensive Care patients were undertaken more than two hours after cannula insertion.

Lesions caused by Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis in the scrotum of rams.

Palpable lesions within the scrotum but not associated with the testis or epididymis were detected in 20 of 200 merino rams in 3 flocks during routine veterinary examination.
