HSPB8 is a heat shock protein belonging to a family of ATP-independent stress proteins called HSPB which are present far and wide in the cells of various organisms. They are committed to protein quality control (PQC) and strive to avert protein aggregation and to procreate a pool of non-native proteins that can be swiftly folded. Their fundamental expression or stress inducibility is regulated by various cis-elements localized in the HSPB regulatory regions.

Sri is highly conserved amongst mammals and consists of N-terminal glycine rich domain and C-terminal calcium binding domain that mediates its dimerization and interacts with different compounds. In the present study, with the help of combination of computational and molecular biology techniques, we have identified a novel isoform (Sri-N) in mouse which differs only in the C-terminal domain with that of Sri reported earlier.

It results in the formation of inclusion bodies and non-functional aggregates. Chemical chaperones also known as osmolytes which are accumulated during the stress conditions in the cells can influence the protein stability through various mechanisms.

Zebrafish DHFR, an essential protein for the survival of cells, shows irreversible thermal unfolding transition. The protein exhibits complete unfolding and loss of activity at 50 °C as monitored by UV-Visible, fluorescence and far UV-CD spectroscopy.

Human Dihydrofolate reductase (hDHFR), an enzyme involved in the synthesis of purine, thymidilate and several other amino acids like glycine, methionine and serine is highly aggregation prone.

Aralkylamine Nacetyl transferase (AANAT), which belongs to GCN5-related N-acetyl transferase member, is a globular 23-kDa cytosolic protein that forms a reversible regulatory complex with 14-3-3 proteins, AANAT regulates the daily cycle of melatonin biosynthesis in mammals, making it an attractive target for therapeutic control of abnormal melatonin production in mood and sleep disorders. There is no evidence available regarding α and β subunits, active site and their ASA value in Dopamine N-acetyl transferase.
