Customization of stock eye prosthesis for a pediatric patient by a simplified technique.

The unfortunate loss or absence of an eye may be caused by congenital defect , irreparable trauma, tumor or blind eye. The role of the maxillofacial prosthodontist in fabricating an ocular prosthesis to restore facial symmetry and normal appearance for the anophthalmic patient becomes essential. A custom-made ocular prosthesis is an excellent alternative for the people who lose their eye especially in young age.

Use of diagnostic and surgical stent: a simplified approach for implant placement.

Dental implantology has emerged as a practical alternative to traditional prosthodontics. Since the beginning, placement of implant in the bone to achieve a prosthetic solution that fulfils biologic, aesthetic and biomechanical requirements has been a challenge. In the past, implant site and inclination were dictated by residual bone quality.

Evaluation of the efficacy of a prosthodontic stent in determining the position of dental implants.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of a dual purpose (diagnostic and surgical) acrylic resin stent with gutta percha marker used in conjunction with 3D imaging in determination of the position and inclination of dental implants.

Materials And Methods: This study was performed as a case control study. A total of 41 implants, of which 20 had been placed without the use of stents and 3D imaging (control group) and 21 were placed using stents and 3D imaging (study group), were studied.
