Congenital Anomalies of the Kidney and Urinary Tract in Patients with Hirschsprung Disease.

Objective: To determine the frequency and types of congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT) in patients with Hirschsprung disease.

Giant Mesenteric Lipoma- A Rare Tumour Of Paediatric Age.

Intraperitoneal Lipomas presenting as huge abdominal mass are uncommon in paediatric age group. We report case of an 11 months old male child, who presented with abdominal distension and constipation. Initial investigations including CT scan and Trucut biopsy of lesion failed to delineate nature of tumour.

Spectrum of Omphalomesenteric Duct Related Anomalies and Their Surgical Management in Children.

Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical presentation and surgical management of omphalomesenteric duct (OMD) remnants in children.  Material and methods A descriptive retrospective study was conducted at the Department of Paediatric Surgery of the National Institute of Child Health, Karachi, Pakistan, from April 2017 to January 2020. Children below 12 years of age with various OMD remnants were included in the study.

Early Surgical Management of Appendicular Mass in Pediatric Patients.

Objective: To find out the feasibility and safety of early surgery in pediatric patients who presented with appendicular mass.

Enteric Fever Complicated by Intestinal Perforation in Children: A Persistent Health Problem Requiring Surgical Management.

Objective: To evaluate clinical presentation and surgical outcome in children with enteric perforation.

Methods: A descriptive retrospective study was conducted in Department of Paediatric Surgery at National Institute of Child Health, Karachi from August 2016 and September 2019, in children 12 years of age and under with diagnosis of enteric perforation. Data about age, gender, duration of illness, hemodynamic status and baseline investigation on admission was reviewed.

The early outcome of primary anterior sagittal approach for low anorectal malformations in female patients.

Objective: To document our experience of the primary anterior sagittal anorectoplasty (ASARP) in female patients with lower and wide fistula in term of the early post operative outcome.

Methods: A retrospective descriptive study was conducted in one surgical unit of the National Institute of Child Health Karachi, from January 2010 to April 2018. The study included female patients with diagnosis of imperforate anus with wide Vestibular or Perineal fistula with minimal or no straining during defecation and no excoriation of perineum.

Cloacal Malformation in Female Children: Outcome of Initial Management.

Objective: To document our experience of initial management of Cloacal malformation in female patients.

Methods: A descriptive retrospective study was conducted in the Department of Pediatric Surgery of the National Institute of Child Health Karachi from January 2010 to September 2018. Female patients with diagnosis of Cloacal malformation were included in this study.

Management of impacted urethral stones in children.

Objective: To find out the clinical presentation, site of impaction, management and outcome of children presenting with urinary retention due to urethral stone.

Delayed presentation of trichobezoar with small bowel obstruction.

Small bowel obstruction is a common surgical emergency but trichobezoar as an etiology, rarely reported. A seven year old school going female child presented with acute intestinal obstruction with a palpable and mobile mass in the abdomen. At exploration, a 10 cm long trichobezoar was found in the distal ileum which was removed through enterotomy.

Mucinous adenocarcinoma of colon.

Bleeding per rectum is a common complaint in pediatric age group and mostly relates to benign conditions. Underlying colorectal carcinoma is a rare cause and carries a poor prognosis. We report two cases of mucinous adenocarcinoma of colon, one in a 9 years old male and other in a female of 12 years.

Anterior sagittal approach for anorectal malformations in female children: early results.

Objective: To determine the technical applicability and early postoperative outcome of anterior sagittal approach for anorectal malformations in female children.
